Known historically as the halfway point between Columbus and Pittsburgh, Dennison is a small village that was once a major industrial center as well as a crucial railroad and transportation hub. You wouldn’t know it by visiting Dennison now, as the population has dwindled over the decades.

Dennison may not be the liveliest place, but it sure can be a fantastic place to rent an RV, especially with many of the state’s best parks and nature areas nearby. Furthermore, the village is located south of Akron and Cleveland in one of Ohio’s most densely populated areas, caught between pleasant countryside and impressive cityscapes. When you book an RV in Dennison, you won’t have to limit yourself to one place; all of Ohio is yours to explore.

The Great Outdoors

Finding a lovely place to unwind and camp with your Dennison RV rental is part of the fun when you take a trip to the area. There are many great wildlife areas and parks to choose from. Salt Fork State Park is the largest state park in Ohio, and one of the most popular too. The park is named for the salt reserves and mineral licks lining the creek, where animals frequently go to get their minerals to supplement their diets. There are two marinas for storing boats, hunting areas, fishing spots, boat launches, swimming spots along the sandy beach, and an 18-hole golf course all located inside the park.

West Branch State Park is another park you will find enticing, especially when you rent an RV and feel like driving north towards the bustling metro area surrounding Cleveland. West Branch State Park has 12 miles of hiking trails dispersed throughout its forests, along with 20 miles of horseback riding trails and snowmobile trails for wintertime use. Boating, fishing, and swimming are encouraged on the large reservoir inside the park, and you can park the Dennison motorhome rental in the campground if you decide to stay overnight.

Geneva State Park is far to the north on the shores of Lake Erie, and a fantastic place to spend some time if you want to see one of the world’s largest lakes up close. This 700-acre park has a massive boat ramp, a marina, a guest lodge, rental cottages by the lake, and numerous activities to keep you engaged and happy. The beaches are some of the best in Ohio, great for sun tanning, beachcombing, swimming, fishing, playing frisbee, and camping.

If you are already up by Cleveland, it only makes sense to visit The Buckeye State’s lone national park, Cuyahoga Valley National Park. This pristine wonderland serves as a revitalized nature park teeming with wildlife. Hike through dense woodlands and along the Cuyahoga River for mesmerizing views and spectacular waterfalls off the beaten track. Rocky canyons, deep gorges, and historical structures cap off this awesome outdoor attraction and you can camp here with the Dennison travel trailer rental if you want to spend a few days exploring the park.

City Sightseeing

Dennison isn't the most exciting place in Ohio, but there are some fun museums you can visit while you're here. Dennison Railroad Depot Museum pays homage to the history of Dennison, with particular emphasis on its history as a railroad hub that some say was once the largest in the country. The depot is a registered National Historic Landmark, built in 1873 and restored to its original glory. There are old trains on display, a restaurant, a gift shop, an informative museum, a theater, interactive kids' exhibits, and treasure hunts for children.

Over in the neighboring town of Uhrichsville, the Uhrichsville Clay Museum is a small facility highlighting the production of clay objects in Ohio’s once great clay industry. The small building doesn’t take long to tour, but it is interesting and different than other museums.

The waterpark in Uhrichsville is a nice change of pace, especially for families and children. This fun-filled entertainment center has heated pools, multi-story waterslides, splash pads, baby pools, concession stands, and lots of patio space for parents to lounge and relax. The park is open during the warmer months and is an ideal spot to cool off and beat the dog days of summer.
