No other place in the contiguous United States excites outdoor enthusiasts and campers quite like the wilderness of northern California. If you like public campgrounds, there are several to the south belonging to the national forests. Shafter Campground and Juanita Lake Campground are rustic campgrounds where you can reconnect with nature while enjoying magnificent views by the water.

Dorris doesn't have a lot of attractions or points of interest, so you might have to head to a larger city nearby to get a better picture of what cities are like in the region. Klamath Falls is over the border in Oregon, but a fabulous place to spend a few days with your Dorris motorhome rental.

There are a few excellent museums to check out while in Klamath Falls, in addition to several awesome restaurants, bars, breweries, art galleries, and boutique shops. The Klamath County Museum is your go-to resource for all things pertaining to the complex history of Klamath County. A wide variety of subject matter is covered in the museum, from the local native population to the settlers who came more recently to make a new life for themselves. Natural history is a major focus too, with lots of minerals and gems on display in addition to historical artifacts.

The Baldwin Hotel Museum preserves the memory of the Baldwin Hotel, opened in 1906. This amazing hotel is preserved with near-total accuracy, adequately demonstrating what it was like when it first opened. You can learn a great deal about history in this fine establishment too, with even more artifacts and local treasures to be seen.

The Favell Museum of Native American Artifacts and Contemporary Art houses a staggering collection of over 100,000 native artifacts from indigenous tribes all over North and South America. Some of these fascinating objects date back over 12,000 years, well before recorded history. There are stone pots, elegant beadwork tapestries, tribal ceremonial outfits, weapons, and tools for all to see, and you won’t regret taking the time to do so.
