Elfers is in Pasco County, Florida; the town was incorporated from 1925 to 1933. It was named after a favored uncle of the first postmaster's wife (by her) when the first post office was opened in 1909. Before that, it had been known as “the Baillie settlement”. The railroad was extended to Elfers in 1913 to assist the citrus industry. Elfers' school, the first brick building in western Pasco County, was opened in 1915; it was replaced in 1966 and later re-opened in 2013 as a CARES Center with a cafe, an auditorium, and the New Port Richey Public Library's Avery Branch.

Search for an RV in Pasco County and you have your choice of some of Florida's finest RV models, equipped and ready to head out on an adventure. When you hit the road, there are some other towns you should consider checking out. Hudson, after a false start, was revitalized in the 1950s when a group of realtors had canals dug in place of streets and then sold lots along the “new” waterfront. New Port Richey's name became official when the New Port Richey post office opened in 1915 (locals had referred to it as such since 1914, to distinguish it from old Port Richey, now known just as Port Richey). Odessa was originally a ranching community named by a Russian immigrant; it has become a residential development for Tampa residents. Palm Harbor has numerous festivals held throughout the year; one of them is their Palm Harbor First Friday Celebrations, held monthly, with rides, music, and local restaurants providing food booths. Tarpon Springs is well known for its fishing charters; one species of fish, thought to be tarpon, has a reputation for spraying its captors when caught (but they are actually mullet). Your Elfers travel trailer rental is your window to seeing and learning about these places first hand.

The Great Outdoors

Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park is a salt (water) marsh that is more than 300 feet deep in some places. The park protects several miles of coastline which have thick mangrove stands and no beach areas. Birdwatching and wildlife viewing, paddling, and photography are popular activities within the park; fishing is allowed, as well as picnicking and hiking, and canoes and kayaks can be rented on site.

Swimmers would be better suited to pay a visit to Robert K Rees Memorial Park. It is open during daylight hours, seven days a week. The park is a developed community recreational area that allows hiking and picnicking, boating, and other activities. The open space areas have picnic tables and charcoal grills and there is a playground for younger children that includes a pirate ship and slide. The north side of the park has a boardwalk through the mangroves and wetland properties, with an elevated viewing deck for spotting dolphins, sea cranes, and other park residents.

Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park is a developed multi-purpose recreational area with paved trails for hiking and biking, a horse corral and equestrian trails, and more. There are playgrounds for young kids, horseshoe pitches, and volleyball courts; the park is home to more than 100 species of birds and has trails specifically for birding and nature watching that were designed by the Audobon Society. Keep your Elfers RV trailer rental close by and you can return to comfort and style when your activities have been concluded.
