Discover Forestville

The Great Outdoors

Head on over to Steelhead Beach Regional Park for some fun on the water. Along the banks of the Russian River, Steelhead is a great place to spend the day fishing, hiking, paddling, or wading in the water. Steelhead Beach Regional Park is unique in that it is one of the few remaining places along the Russian River that has not been developed for agricultural uses. Come and explore this intact riparian habitat but remember to leave no trace behind, and take nothing but pictures.

If you rent an RV in Forestville, you might also want to check out the West County Trail. The 5.57-mile trail runs between Forestville and Sebastopol. It’s flat, paved, and perfect for biking, walking, or skating. On the trail, you’ll ride through gorgeous vineyards, orchards, and other farmlands. Don’t miss the West County Trail if you’re looking for an easy, beautiful, and safe bicycle outing.

Just outside Forestville in Guerneville, you can experience the splendid California Redwoods at Armstrong Redwood State Reserve. The grove is a living reminder of the spectacular primeval redwood forests that covered much of the area before the logging operations of the 19th century. Standing up to 350 feet tall with diameters of up to 16 feet, these ancient beauties live for between 500 to 1,000 years. The reserve includes a visitor’s center, self-guided nature trails, and several picnic facilities.

RV Parks

Book a luxury RV rental in Forestville and you could stay at River Bend Resort. Aptly named, many of the campground’s campsites are located along the Russian River. Full hook-up and partial hook-up sites are available. River Bend Resort features a general store, laundry area, showers, a pub, a playground, and several rinse stations. Pets are welcome though additional fees may apply.

Mirabel RV Park and Campground is another place to park your motorhome rental in Forestville. Located along the Russian River, the campground has RV and trailer sites with partial hook-ups (water and electricity). Visitors to Mirabel RV Park can use a nearby dump station for a small fee. Hot showers and flushing toilets are available at three locations on the campground. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit. Some of the fire pits have grill grates for cooking, but it is recommended that you bring your own grill in case your site does not have one.

Exploring the City

The vineyards in and around Forestville are lovely places to unwind in the afternoon. One of the wineries dates back to the 1890s and offers a relaxing and laid-back atmosphere with sweeping views of the vineyard. You can also browse the shops in Downtown Forestville. The downtown area is small and a perfect place for you to take a little stroll. Several unique stores line Front Street including a dated and charming hardware store, an organic coffee bar, and several small boutiques specializing in everything from sugar-free fruit spreads to spiritual soaps.

Less than half an hour's drive away in Monte Rio, guests can enjoy the unusual mixture of activity and quietude at Creekside Park. Home to the Russian River Skate Park, both novice and seasoned skaters alike are welcome. Behind the main building, street art fans can enjoy the ever-changing “park-approved” art wall where those with an artistic side can display their skills. If you want to get away from the large crowds, wander onto the Dutch Bill Creek Loop which encircles the park. There you will find many native species and edible plants. There is also a communal orchard and farm where the produce is shared with farmers and the public and also used to whip up delicacies in the park’s cafe.

Book an RV in Sonoma County and experience everything that this award-winning wine country has to offer.
