The unique town of Frostproof, Florida is known as “the Friendly City” and is located 75 miles south of Orlando and 75 miles east of Tampa. The name is technically misleading because marketers made the claim that the town had never been affected by frost in an effort to attract more farmers to the area. Only a few short years after the town began to grow, frost killed off all of the citrus crops in Frostproof.

Frostproof is located between two different lakes. Reedy Lake and Lake Clinch, making for lots of spectacular waterfront properties and parks. The beaches along the water allow for some great swimming, and since the town is centrally located, no park, forest, lake, beach, or city is too far away when you book an RV in Frostproof, Florida. This makes it an ideal vacation destination for people of all types from all over the country.

Discover Frostproof

The Great Outdoors

There are quite a few public spaces to enjoy when you rent an RV in Frostproof. Lake Clinch Park unsurprisingly sits on the shores of Lake Clinch with gorgeous views of the water. The sunsets and sunrises over the lake are outrageously colorful and mesmerizing. Lake Reedy Park and Pier is a great place to go fishing or take a swim in Reedy Lake. Frostproof Sports Complex is one of the largest recreation areas in the city, home to lots of sports courts, fields, and other outdoor features.

Inland Florida is dominated by wildlife management areas and conservation parks so there are several within a short drive in your Frostproof camper rental. Walk-in-the-Water Wildlife Management Area is known for its hunting and fishing, and camping is even allowed with special permission. Arbuckle Wildlife Management Area surrounds Lake Arbuckle, another excellent fishing spot. Camping is also acceptable at Arbuckle Wildlife Management Area. Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park is a 30-minute drive east and has a campground and several nature trails that take guests on a journey through several ecosystems. Hammock, swamp, prairie: Kissimmee has it all. Myakka River State Park is a little bit farther of a drive but well worth it; Myakka River State Park is one of the oldest parks in Florida and is known for horseback riding and birdwatching.

Ocala National Forest to the north is one of the quietest wilderness areas you’ll find, between the burnt-out desert prairies and the fire-prone pine forests. Be careful because Ocala is located in Florida’s infamous Black Bear Corridor, so keep all food locked up securely when camping. Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park are two gems located in Florida that adequately display the beauty of Florida. The Everglades is one of the biggest parks in the country, at one time covering one-third of Florida. Biscayne National Park is unique because it exists mostly underwater to preserve the complex coral ecosystem that thrives off the coast of Miami.

Exploring the City

Frostproof is not quite large enough to have many attractions of its own, but the nearby town Lakeland has you covered when you look for entertainment options. Lake Mirror is an iconic feature at the heart of downtown Lakeland, with elegant, old, Greek columns dotting the water’s edge, and a lovely promenade for sunset strolls. Adjacent to Lake Mirror is Hollis Gardens, a delightful botanical garden featuring a wide array of exotic plant species. The garden is adorned with sculptures and ornate fountains and weddings are commonly held in the outdoor space beside the water.

Joker Marchant Stadium is a baseball park that hosts minor league games. The Detroit Tigers utilize the facility during spring training so lots of people come to town seeking autographs or glimpses of their favorite players. Polk Museum of Art is affiliated with the world-renowned Smithsonian Institution and widely considered one of the best art museums in the state. The museum displays priceless collections of pre-Columbian, Asian, European, and other types of art from different cultures and time periods.

RV Parks

Florida is quite famous for its friendly attitude towards motorhomes and recreational vehicles, so you’ll, of course, come across no difficulty finding a great place to park your camper rental near Frostproof during your vacation. Lake Wales RV & Campsite is one of the places to stay when you book an RV rental in Frostproof. The campground has an indoor heated pool, clubhouse, gym, and library. Cypress Campground & RV Park is another upscale location with resort-like amenities, like a large outdoor pool, a mini-golf course, and spacious camping sites.

Rainbow RV Resort is for guests over 55 years of age. The resort has a swimming pool, game rooms, fishing piers, arcades, a spa, hot tub, and many other amenities. Southern Pines RV Park is another option. The park has a swimming pool, Wi-Fi, and is near the Lake County Fairgrounds and scenic Lake Eustis.

Don’t take our word for it though, do some searching of your own to see the sheer number of parks available in the area for you and your Frostproof RV rental in this sunny, and usually frost-free, section of central Florida.
