About 15 minutes’ drive to the west of Wichita on US Route 400, is the suburban community of Goddard, Kansas. Much of the town was built in 1884, the year the railway was completed, but Goddard was not officially incorporated until 1910. What was formerly an agricultural town has slowly morphed into a suburb for commuters over the years as the city of Wichita has grown considerably. This small town sits on the periphery of the metro area but offers an easy escape into the countryside, and other cities in the Midwest, for that matter.

Book an RV in Goddard and travel throughout the Great Plains region with the freedom to keep moving. The Dwight D. Eisenhower International Airport is only minutes from Goddard so it is exceptionally easy to find and get to town and rent an RV. No matter the time of year, the town of Goddard finds a reason to celebrate, whether it be Fall Festival at the end of summer, the Independence Day Fireworks Display, the town Christmas Tree Lighting, Thanksgiving Feast, or National Night Out, you’ll soon enough understand why this charming community is one of the fastest growing cities in Kansas.

Discover Goddard

Experience the Sites and Scenery

Neither Goddard nor Kansas is particularly known for its outdoors scenery or massive forests, but there are still a few hidden gems to be uncovered while you book a rental RV near Goddard. Goddard has two small parks and a municipal swimming pool for you to check out upon arriving. Linear Park has a fantastic set of bicycle trails as well as a large playground and a splash park for children. Pawnee Prairie Park can be found by heading towards Wichita in your Goddard camper rental, and many wooded walking trails wind through the forest, while elegant wooden bridges carry hikers over babbling brooks. Horseback riding is also a very popular activity at Pawnee Prairie Park. Lake Afton is close to Goddard and you can most likely find the locals cooling off here in the summertime. Boating, camping, fishing, swimming, and hiking are all on the menu when you bring your Goddard motorhome rental to the shores of this gorgeous lake.

Cheney State Park and Cheney Wildlife Area can be found on the edges of Cheney Reservoir, and are worth a visit with the Goddard rental motorhome, too. With two marinas, six boat launches, and over 600 camping sites of all types, Cheney State Park happens to be one of the very best recreation areas in central Kansas. The adjacent wildlife area is an excellent spot to take wildlife photos, or simply observe the wonderful migratory waterfowl who use the lake as a resting point.

Kanopolis Lake State Park, up by Salina, Milford State Park near Junction City, and Fancy Creek and Randolph State Parks located by Manhattan are all fantastic places to camp with your Goddard luxury motorhome rental if you feel you need to venture out and explore more of the Sunflower State.

City Attractions

Unfortunately, Goddard’s attractions have not quite caught up to its rapidly increasing population just yet, so most of your entertainment will need to be found outside of town or in neighboring Wichita. That being said, Goddard is hardly a boring little town in the middle of nowhere. There are a few incredible restaurants and boutique retail shops in Goddard’s main streets, and walking around is a pleasure on these small-town streets.

Tanganyika Wildlife Park is probably Goddard’s most popular feature, featuring one of the largest collections of animals in the state. This privately-owned zoo was built from the ground up by a family of animal lovers, and the zoo plays host to lots of weddings, private parties, yoga sessions, and fun 21+ bar nights.

Wichita has no shortage of fun, entertaining options itself and is quite easy to reach in no time at all. The Museum of World Treasures and the Wichita Art Museum are just two of the thought-provoking attractions you can find in the metro area. You can find other options with ease when you rent an RV in Goddard and take it for a drive, and you will be pleasantly surprised with all the Kansas has to offer.

Where to Park It

Kansas is known for its wide-open spaces, so finding a spot to park your Goddard RV rental is no problem at all. Air Capital RV Park is close to both Goddard and Wichita, and has many nice amenities. Green grass on each site, and close proximity to diesel, gas, and groceries make this place worth considering. All Seasons RV Park is small, with wooded camping sites.

Cheney State Park and Sedgwick County Afton Lake Park both have wonderful camping spaces for visitors, and they all overlook the majestic waters of the lakes below.
