Grasonville sits on the water’s edge of both the Chester River to the north and Prospect bay to the west. Located in East Maryland, the state is fondly known as Chesapeake Bay State for its estuary that stretches south to its neighbor, Virginia. You and your family will love the water and history the area has to offer.

Named after the 25th Governor of Maryland, William Grason, the town forms part of Queen Anne’s County, a region rich with Native American history and in particular Kent Island located to the west of Prospect Bay, which has been inhabited by the Matapeake tribe for the past 12,000 years. The location of the first European settlement in Maryland, this island was not connected to the western shore until 1952 when the Chesapeake Bay Bridge was built, forming part of Route 50/301. This is a great location to cross the bay and head to the state capital Annapolis and the states largest city of Baltimore, just under an hour’s drive from town.
