The Tortilla Mountains are another great mountain range to drive to. Also a short drive away from Hayden, they are ideal for hikers as they offer many winding trails through canyons. Featured are many impressive boulders you can climb and cattle trails to view. However, be careful when traveling down the cattle trails as these are often still in use and may possibly find yourself being overcome with herds of cattle.

Another outdoor destination to venture to is the Gila River. A tributary of the Colorado River, the Gila River is surrounded by lush trees and was one of the first designated wilderness areas in the area. At times horseback rides through its trails are available. Exploring the City

While Hayden is a tiny place, it features a rich history that provides plenty of places you can explore. One place in particular is the Old Ripsey Mine. While you are able to view the old abandoned homes up close, be careful when doing so as they might not be very sturdy and safe.

While you are out exploring mines stop by Hayden Smelter. This mine is located inside Hayden and was known for its high amounts of copper. It’s also one of the tallest free-standing structures in Arizona.
