Today, Homer, MI is a thriving community, with many shops, restaurants, and places to stay. The town water tower reflects the spirit of this lively community, stating ‘Homer is Home." The Great Outdoors

The town of Homer sits on the banks of Homer Lake, with 240 acres of water to enjoy. There is a small car park on the lake shore which leads to the small boat ramp, making it a popular spot for those that fancy trying their luck with a fishing rod. There are also a number of small parks directly in town, such as Grist Park, located on the Kalamazoo River, Grist Mill Park, Lakefront Park, Roadside Park, and Webster Street Park. The biggest area of outdoor space nearby is the Waterloo Recreation Area, which is just a short drive away in your Franklin RV rental, and covers more than 20,000 acres. The park is a good option for a day out thanks to the multiple swimming beaches and picnic sites, which are teaming with life in the summer months. The area is also a fisherman’s dream thanks to the 11 well-stocked lakes and numerous boat launches. Nature lovers are able to explore the 12 miles of interpretive nature trails, and walkers are able to enjoy the 47 miles of hiking trails. There are also equestrian trails and biking trails for those that prefer an alternative form of transportation.

In Michigan, you’ll also be in the heart of some of America’s great lakes. The huge Lake Michigan sits to the west, Lake Huron to the north and Lake Erie to the east of Homer. Harbor Cove RV Park is located in the charming community of Coldwater and offers a stunning lakeside vantage point with great views. The park has been designed exclusively for RVs, meaning there are plenty of large pull-through sites as well as a range of useful amenities. These include the conveniences of a small store stocked with all the essentials, laundry, toilets and showers, picnic tables and even boat rental so you can head out onto the lake. If you don’t fancy heading out onto the water, you can spend a relaxed day fishing while the children enjoy the adventure playground.

Moscow Maples RV Park is another nearby option, and although it is quiet and family-run, there is room for 185 RVs. A perk of this park is its heated swimming pool and small mini golf area, both of which provide hours of fun for people of all ages. This park also offers fully remodeled restrooms, WiFi, fire rings, and a laundry service.

To the north is Camp Turkeyville RV Resort, which provides both back in and pull-through sites set on a plot of 14 acres. All full hookups sites offer sewer, water, and 15, 30 and 50 amp electricity. The on-site general store is always fully stocked, and there are also showers, WiFi, laundry facilities, and a playground. Throughout the year there are a number of weekend events run by the site for all to enjoy, and the fishing ponds, volleyball and basketball courts, and restaurants are open all year. Exploring the City

Thanks to the hard work of the Homer Historical Society, the town plays host to a number of festivals spread throughout the year. The three main festivals are the Herb workshop, the Car and Truck Show and Fall festival, all of which are eagerly anticipated and well attended. Visiting the Fall Festival will provide you a chance to step back in time, visit a pioneer family farm with live demonstrations, crafts, farm equipment, live music and lots of food! The annual Car and Truck Show does what the name suggests, where all makes, models and years of cars attend and are shown.
