The loop is filled with hidden corners, trailheads and lookout points with views of the mountains, lakes, and forests. Take your time driving through the loop, and stop as often as you can for photographs.
For the perfect sunrise and sunset, make a trip to Yost Trail. A short hike of about 20 minutes brings you to a perfect viewing spot of the town of June Lake, along with June Lake and Gull Lake, but most important are the stunning sunrise and sunset views you’ll get to see from this point.
Not very far from town is the Mono Lake South Tufa that’s definitely worth checking out. The massive Mono Lake is home to the limestone rocks called Tufas that appear from out of the middle of the lake. Some of the Tufas are accessible by foot on the south shore of the lake, when you go through the Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve. The town of June Lake has a couple of interesting dining options to try out, and if you like your beer, don’t miss stopping by at June Lake Brewing; sample the locally-made beers in the tasting room of the brewhouse. From a Hawaiian food truck to Mexican food joints, a few bars to a candy store the kids will love, you’ll enjoy eating out in this small town.
