Though a small town, there is plenty of things to see and do in the area. Hit the historic or military museums, go SCUBA diving, fishing, boating, crabbing, and clamming. And of those don’t tickle your fancy, take your RV rental to the Olympic National Park and go hiking and camping.
The closest major town is Poulsbo, some seven miles away. The fastest way to Seattle is by ferry, which takes about 90 minutes (including the time to load and unload vehicles). Visit the world-famous Olympic National Park, which was designated an international biosphere reserve and a World Heritage site. Covering over 1,400 square miles of land, the park has three distinct ecosystems: subalpine forest, temperate forest (rainforest), and the Pacific shore/ocean. The park is also a Dark Sky Park, and during the summer months, which are typically drier and clear, you’ll be able to see the Milky Way, several galaxies, and nebulae. The Master Observer Program at Hurricane Ridge lends out telescopes in summers.
Both the Puget Sound and Hood Canal have thousands of species of fish, marine mammals, clams, and mussels. It’s a fisherman’s and SCUBA diver’s dream spot. There are several reefs and shipwrecks in the Sound for divers to explore (and guides for hire, as well).

Sometimes you’ll need to to make an unplanned stop overnight. Consider Walmarts, truck stops, and larger grocery stores.
