The peaceful suburban town of La Verne, California is known for its ideal location on the edges of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Like many other fringe cities, La Verne benefits from being so close to the City of Angels, without all of the pitfalls like pollution, overcrowding, and traffic. Beneath the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, people visiting La Verne are constantly reminded about the extraordinary natural beauty of Southern California that awaits them when they rent an RV and set off on an adventure.

The close-knit community was once a ranching town, before savvy investors encouraged the railroad companies to build the railway through La Verne to encourage and promote growth. From its founding until after WWII, La Verne was known for its massive citrus output. Later, the citrus industry dwindled and La Verne was forced to reinvent itself yet again, to blossom into the beautiful city it is today. Those who search for an RV in La Verne are almost guaranteed a relaxing, informative, exciting, wonderful trip, with lots to do and see, and plenty of places to go.

Discover La Verne

Experience the Sites and Scenery

La Verne is bordered to the north by the magnificent San Gabriel Mountains, which tempt visitors to leave the city behind and explore the vast wilderness areas of California. La Verne itself has quite a few lovely parks that await you when you rent an RV; Las Flores Park is one of the nineteen public parks that grace the town, and one of the very best, too. A myriad of athletic fields, courts, playgrounds, a pool and swimming complex, and picnic shelters are available to all at this incredible communal area. Golden Hills Wilderness Park has lots of cool walking paths in the gradually rising slopes of northern La Verne, and Heritage Park has gazebos, picnic areas, and a few historical sites of its own.

Chino Hills State Park is an obvious stop when exploring the area with a La Verne rental motorhome. This stunning wilderness refuge in the Santa Ana Mountains provides a unique retreat from the hectic city, where native wildlife can be viewed and photographed. Camping and hiking are just two reasons to check this place out.

Visiting Angeles National Forest is a no-brainer since it is the closest stretch of wilderness to town; in fact, a small chunk of the massive forest is located in northern La Verne. There are too many campgrounds and hiking trails to name in the stunning San Gabriel Mountains that famously overlook Los Angeles and its surrounding cities.

San Bernardino National Forest, out past San Bernardino, is another excellent place to camp with your La Verne motorhome rental. Lots of majestic, towering mountains and magnificent lakes can be found at higher altitudes within the forest where several Hollywood western movies were filmed.

Cleveland National Forest, Los Padres National Forest, and Sequoia National Forest are all within driving distance when you rent an RV in La Verne, provided you don’t mind a few hours of driving. Don’t forget to venture out to Joshua Tree National Park, one of the most mystical and breathtaking places in all the Southwest. Incredible desert sunsets and undisturbed starry skies are reason enough to stay a few nights at this treasured park.

City Attractions

Downtown La Verne has no shortage of fine dining, fast food, boutique shopping, as well as a bevy of breweries crafting unique beers. Outside of La Verne, the neighboring city of Pomona has a few attractions worth checking out as well, and you can use the public transit system to easily see them.

The Auto Club Raceway at Pomona and the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum are two great places to check out if you are a fan of racing. The pristine-condition hot rods on display at the museum and the historic memorabilia paint a picture of the drag racing scene like no one else can. The Raceway at Pomona, of course, has drag racing events all the time, where spectators can see cars going over 300 miles per hour.

Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden is a quiet and relaxing place to spend a few hours or a whole day. Tours of the nursery are offered at the botanic gardens, where visitors can learn about California’s native plant species. There is also a massive butterfly habitat that captivates all that enter.

Finally, the La Verne United Methodist Church is a popular attraction due to it being a filming location for many Hollywood productions. Speaking of Hollywood, the Walk of Fame and the famous Hollywood sign are worth seeing if you have the time.

Where to Park It

All the things you’ll need on your trip will be easily obtainable in La Verne. Fueling up the RV rental near La Verne is easy with stations on nearly every corner, and places to stay are a dime a dozen.
