The town of Limon, CO, is known as the “Hub City” due to the large number of highways that intersect there. That’s one of the reasons that you’ll want to book an RV in Limon; it’s just so easy to get anywhere from there. Whether you want to drive west to Denver, east to Kansas, or north to Cheyenne, it’s all just a short distance away.

Limon actually got its start as a work camp for the Chicago and Rock Island Railway line that was supposed to run from Kansas to Colorado Springs. In the end, Denver was chosen as the western terminus for the line.

The nearby depots have been shuttered but the area still contains a wealth of history from the state’s boomtown days. Today the town ranks high on many lists for livability, thanks in part to its proximity to the Denver metro and the stunning natural beauty of the area, but without the expense and traffic that you’d find in the big city.

The Great Outdoors

While not particularly close by, Rocky Mountain National Park is a must see whenever you’re visiting Colorado. No matter the time of year or what kind of activities you enjoy, there’s something to love at Rocky Mountain National Park. One of the more popular activities is to drive Trail Ridge Road; exceeding 12,000 feet in elevation, it is the highest paved roadway in the national park system. The Bear Lake region is also quite popular with hikers as there are a number of short loop trails that are easy enough for any fitness level while also showcasing the park’s distinctive beauty.

Once you’ve had enough of the mountains, head a little to the northwest of Limon to see the complete opposite, expansive prairies. The Richmil Ranch Open Space near Deer Trail is one of the best places to see this ecosystem in action with plenty of pronghorn antelope to observe.

If you don’t want to travel far, be sure to hit up the Limon Wetlands on the eastern edge of town. There are some great walking trails with signs detailing how the fascinating wetland ecosystem functions.

RV Parks near Limon

One of the closest places to stay with your camper rental in Limon is at the Limon KOA. The full-service park offers a swimming pool, dog park, Wi-Fi, and, of course, hookups for your Limon RV rental. It’s located near the crossroads of several highways, so no matter where you’re traveling to, you’ll have an easy time getting there. Another option is the Genoa RV Park, just a short drive to the east of Limon. Sites there have full hookups, and there are laundry facilities, a dump station, and a fully equipped playground for the little ones.

The Trailing Edge Park is another choice when you choose a motorhome rental in Limon. The park offers full hookups for your RV rental and is in a convenient location – right in the middle of downtown Limon. The nearest Walmart can be found in the town of Elizabeth, a short distance to the west of Limon. If you’re only staying for a night or two, it might be worth asking the manager for permission to camp.

For fueling up your RV rental near Limon, it’s probably best to stick to the truck stops along Interstate 70 as these will have the larger fuel bays to more easily maneuver your rig and dump stations to empty your tanks.

Exploring the Town of Limon

One of the most popular attractions to visit when you rent an RV here is the Limon Heritage Museum. The goal of the museum is simply to tell the fascinating story of how the pioneers settled the wilds of eastern Colorado and it does so through an eclectic mix of artifacts ranging from Native American pieces to cowboy saddles to a set of eight windmills.

The nearby town of the Genoa is also home to the oddball tourist attraction known as the World Wonder View Tower, a 65-foot tower built in the 1920s that claims it offers views of six states from its observation deck.

Being a convenient stopping point between the Front Range cities near Denver and Kansas, Limon has quite a few dining options to choose from. Well-regarded restaurants serve everything from Chinese to Mexican to American comfort food, so you’ll never have a problem finding a bite to eat here. The same cannot be said for it’s shopping choices though, with just a smattering of gift shops and antique stores to peruse through and no mall to speak of. However, you will want to stop by the Limon Country Market, which is part farmer’s market and part craft fair.
