US Route 321 cuts through Lincoln County, and if you follow it north for 70 miles and then swing west along US Route 221, you'll reach the Grandfather Mountain State Park where rocky cliffs and miles of challenging hiking trails await. A few decades after this pivotal event, buildings were erected on the battle site that range in style from Federal and Greek Revival to Colonial Revival. On West Water Street, you will see the "Iron Furnace" mural painted on the side of the Lincoln Times-News building while the "Rail Trail Train" is painted on the west side of the Anderson Building.
