This small town is located in the southwest corner of the state. The nearest larger town is Durango, around 30 miles to the east. Mancos, CO is situated around 60 miles east of the Utah state line and around 40 miles north of the border with New Mexico. The town is called the "Gateway to Mesa Verde," as Mesa Verde National Park lies less than 10 miles to the west of town.

Unique shops, museums, wineries, art galleries, and theaters are located throughout the local region, while several restaurants are scattered around the area as well. This rugged land also offers numerous outdoor adventures through the use of its state and national parks and national forestland. THE GREAT OUTDOORS

There is also a camp store, restaurant, and shower facilities available in the park.

Cortez/Mesa Verde KOA is located in Cortez. This site is open the middle of April through the middle of October.
