Just outside of Eugene in western Oregon, is the tiny town of Marcola. Originally named Isabella after Isabella Applegate, one of the first settlers, Marcola was first established in 1876. It was not until 1900 however that Marcola would become an actual town in its present form, with the building of the new railroad. The name Isabella was changed to Marcola in honor of Mary Cole, the wife of town founder Columbus Cole.

Today, you can book an RV in Marcola and escape the congestion of the larger surrounding cities. This one-road-town is a lovely place to rent an RV due to its proximity to both Eugene and Portland. Furthermore, there are endless stretches of wilderness, and delightful public parks all over Oregon, many of which are within driving distance to Marcola.

The Great Outdoors

Where to start when you rent an RV in Marcola? You can’t really go wrong no matter where you go in Oregon, from the lofty Cascade Mountains to the serene coasts on the Pacific Ocean. Several minutes’ drive north of town gets you to Shotgun Creek Recreation Site, a peaceful retreat in the woods where you can reconnect with Mother Nature. Lush forests with meandering creeks and swimming areas are part of the appeal at this lovely park, as are the hiking trails and fishing spots.

To the south, Fall Creek Lake is home to the Fall Creek State Recreation Area, an epic place to bring your Marcola camper rental to make some great memories. A dock and several boat ramps line this large lake, so boating, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing are often enjoyed at this park. There are dozens of camping sites for you to rent, and lots of swimming areas lining the lake. Elijah Bristow State Park is not far from Fall Creek State Recreation Area, named for one of Lane County’s earliest settlers. Miles of gorgeous trails carve through the forest, alongside creeks, rivers, ponds, wetlands, and other amazing features. There are lots of native wildlife species to observe and photograph in the park, in addition to several other activities like hiking, swimming, biking, horseback riding, fishing, and boating too.

If you don’t mind taking your Marcola RV rental for a small road trip to the south, you’ll be able to see Crater Lake National Park, the pride of Oregon. This stunning jewel is a designated World Heritage Site and a natural wonder of the world. This stunning lake in a crater was created over 7,000 years ago when the powerful Mount Mazama exploded and collapsed in on itself. You can hike around the massive rim of the lake, mosey on down to the water for a swim, go fishing or boating in the lake, or camp out in your Marcola campervan rental at this unbelievably beautiful park.
