Marion is a small city in Guadalupe County, Texas. It was incorporated in 1941 as a German settlement and was named after Marion Dove who came from a prominent local family. Because of its location near the Gulf of Mexico, it was designed to be a vital shipping point.

This city is located between San Antonio, Austin, and Houston making it easy for those with an RV rental to travel around and explore the area. This area tends to be very hot and humid and is known for small taco restaurants.

The Great Outdoors

The city is surrounded by quite a few outdoor destinations to take your RV rental. One option is Water Garden Gems. This botanical garden covers about four acres and is filled with various types of koi ponds and water gardens. Exploring the City

This area was settled by Spanish explorers and winds around the San Antonio River. It also has traveling exhibits which range from World War I posters to telling the story of local suffragettes. The museum also has a cafe and store.

Situated in Houston, this museum features 24 historic airplanes, including a 1939 North American B-25 Mitchell and the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt from World War II. The museum sometimes offers flights and even has a flight simulator. It’s also home to the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame.

About two hours away from Marion in Corpus Christi is Padre Island. This barrier island runs along the southern coast of Texas and is known for being home to the Kemp’s ridley sea turtle, a rare species. The Grasslands Nature Trail also winds through the island and will take visitors through marshes and wetlands to see birds and other wildlife. Besides hiking around the island, guests can also go fishing, swimming, and kayaking. Keep in mind that if you decide to fish, you do need a license to do so.
