McDaniel, Maryland is a small town, located in the eastern side of this oddly-shaped state. McDaniel lies on the shores of Eastern Bay, which branches off from its more famous, and much larger sibling, Chesapeake Bay. While it is less than 100 miles from the large megalopolis formed by the Washington D.C. and Baltimore metro areas, this very rural region is a far cry from its urban cousins. The local area is known for its shoreline, its fishing industry and other, water-based activities.

Museums, art galleries, eclectic antique shops, distilleries and breweries, wineries and locally-owned seafood restaurants all help to make this region unique. Its shoreline provides numerous lighthouses and outlying islands available for exploring. There are also plenty of parks, wildlife refuges and preserves for those who seek more nature-based activities.
