The combination of great weather and stunning natural beauty makes the Colorado Springs area a great place for RVing. Combine that experience with a picturesque small town like Monument, and you have the ingredients for a truly memorable vacation when you rent an RV here. But Monument is more than a historic whistle-stop town. It’s one of the fastest-growing communities in the western United States. So, whether you are looking for family-friendly destinations or something slightly more grown-up, RV rentals in Monument can take you where you want to go.

Discover Monument

Experience the Sites and Scenery

If you go anywhere with the rental RV in Monument, a visit to Pikes Peak is almost mandatory. It’s not the tallest mountain in Colorado, but it may be the most famous one. With over a half-million visitors a year, it’s definitely the most popular mountain in the country. Visitors to the Pikes Peak area enjoy not only hiking and riding on the mountain, but also fun attractions like a ghost town museum, a narrow-gauge railroad, ancient Manitou cliff dwellings, and the one-of-a-kind Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine.

Many other people rave about the breathtaking Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. The earliest visitors, who were most likely forerunners of the Ute Indians, came to this area around 1350 B.C. Those early Americans came for the natural beauty, which had remained largely unchanged for thousands of years. Modern visitors who come in their Monument RV rentals enjoy the same scenery, such as Balanced Rock, Cathedral Valley, and the Kissing Camels. Other attractions include some 15 miles of trails. One of them is paved, 1.5 miles long, and wheelchair-accessible. Finally, the Nature Center offers stunning views of the entire park, along with informational programs.

Rainbow Falls is on the other side of Manitou Springs. The site is more than a group of stunning waterfalls. The largest one is almost five stories tall. Rainbow Falls is also an informal public art resource. Over the years, artists have left their mark on various stretches of rock. The five-acre park already features scenic overlooks, picnic areas, and a nature center.

If low-key watersports are your thing, swing by the 9,000-foot high Rampart Reservoir. The lake is huge, and the environment is extremely fragile. Yet despite these challenges, you can still take your Monument motorhome rental to this area to enjoy the lake. There’s also an opportunity to see some spectacular wildlife. Local inhabitants include mountain lions, bears, and eagles.

City Attractions

Most of us have been to a zoo before, but few of us have been to a zoo that’s over a mile above sea level and has one of the largest giraffe herds in North America. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is also home to more than two dozen species of endangered animals. Other attractions include the exciting Mountaineer Sky Ride and a charming 1930s carousel. Although Manitou Springs is one of the last places in the world you’d expect to find a French chateau, Miramont Castle joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. The castle’s 42 rooms are decked out in Victorian style. Visitors can also enjoy a quiet tea room and maybe even see a friendly ghost. Over the years, workers have insisted that their tools moved inexplicably and guests have taken photos of eerie orb-like objects.

What’s Unique

Not many places in Colorado, or anywhere else for that matter, are both a thriving modern community and an old-school historical village. Harmony between these two extremes is even more rare. Monument has that kind of balance. Some people have lived there for generations, and some people have lived there for about six weeks. In your Monument RV rental, you can mingle with both these kinds of people. The experience is almost sure to enhance your life.

Where to Park It

Not surprisingly, the Monument area has some of the best RV parks in the country. One of them is the Colorado Heights Camping Resort. “Camping” and “resort” are two words you don’t normally see together, but they definitely belong together here. A large lake is in the center of this park, which includes over 200 sites. There are also several recreation buildings, a small golf course, and an updated swimming pool.

Jellystone Park is in Larkspur. Yogi and friends are on hand with plenty of fun for the kids. Park amenities at this 100-acre facility include one of the rare heated swimming pools at a Colorado RV park. We also recommend the family movies at the Cindy Bear Theater and the all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast. Of course, there are plenty of spaces and hookups for the Monument motorhome rental.

The Food

When it comes to things like health, nutrition, and diet, Colorado is one of the most progressive states in the country. So, you can find almost any kind of food here. That eclectic mix on your dinner plate is the same spirit that you’ll find in the Colorado air.

Some places were made to explore in an RV. Monument, Colorado is one such place. So, start planning your excursion today.
