When you book an RV in Olalla you’ll also have easy access to great outdoor recreation on the Olympic Peninsula and within Puget Sound. It’s also a relatively quick journey over to Seattle utilizing the Washington State Ferry system. Everything is within reach when you choose an RV rental in Olalla, Washington.

Discover Olalla

The Great Outdoors

One of the best things about getting a camper rental in Olalla is how many opportunities for outdoor fun are close by. Olympic National Park is one of the biggest attractions on the peninsula, drawing millions of visitors per year. While many tourists stick to its western edge, home of the Hoh Rainforest, there’s quite a bit to see from its eastern entrances closer to Olalla. The Staircase Ranger Station accesses some of the park’s most beautiful scenery and has several day hikes that would be great when you get an RV rental in Olalla.

Many visitors to Olalla will choose to do some paddling on Puget Sound. The innumerable coves along the sound’s shoreline make it easy to learn the basics of sea kayaking with little risk. However, more experienced kayakers will enjoy the trip across Colvos Passage to reach Vashon Island. In either case, there are a number of restaurants and small shops to explore along the shore, so tie up your boat and have an adventure on land whenever you get tired of paddling.

If you’re just searching for a place to lay down a picnic blanket, look no further than Anderson Point County Park. The park isn’t very big and doesn’t offer much in the way of amenities, but if you only need a quiet green space close by and along the shore of Puget Sound, this is one of the best.

RV Parks near Olalla

When you choose an RV rental in Olalla, one of the closest full-service RV parks is the Gig Harbor RV Resort. There you’ll find full hookups for your motorhome rental in Olalla along with laundry facilities, a playground for the kids, and cable TV.

If you’d like to stay close to Tacoma when you get a camper rental in Olalla, the Riverview RV Park on its southeast side could be a good option. They have hookups, laundry facilities, and bike trails branching off from the park. For a rustic experience, you could stay at Manchester State Park. Some of the sites there have electrical hookups and there’s a dump station available to empty your tank.

Another option is to camp at the Walmart in Port Orchard when you choose a travel trailer rental in Olalla. With manager permission, you might be able to stay here for a few nights, but be aware that you’ll need to be completely self-sufficient as there won’t be any amenities available. When you are planning your route with the Olalla motorhome rental, it’s worth thinking about where you’re going to fuel up in addition to where you’ll stay. Most of the large truck stops are located around the interstate in Tacoma, and they’ll be much easier to maneuver around in with your RV rental.

Exploring the Town of Olalla

While Olalla may seem like a fairly bucolic community, it’s also well connected with the rest of the towns on the western shore of Puget Sound and with the Seattle metro area. The city of Tacoma is only a short drive away and has loads of attractions. If you’re an animal lover, you’ll want to visit the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, which is home to at least 360 different species including polar bears, Sumatran tigers, and a variety of animals native to the Pacific Northwest.

Western Washington is also well known for being the home of Boeing, one of the world’s largest airplane manufacturers. As such, you’ll surely want to check out the Museum of Flight a little way to the south of Seattle. One of the supersonic Concorde airplanes is on display there, along with JFK’s Air Force One plane. There’s also a very realistic flight simulator if you’re interested in getting your hands on the controls of a World War II-era fighter or a modern passenger jet.

The nearby town of Bremerton, on the western shore of Puget Sound, is also where one of the largest maintenance facilities of the United States Navy is located. The Puget Sound Navy Museum can also be found there and is a great place to experience some of the area’s maritime history and explore what life is like aboard one of their massive ships.
