Discover Oracle

The Oracle Outdoors

Don’t miss Oracle State Park when you book a travel trailer rental in Oracle. Stretching across 3,948 acres on the northeastern foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains, the park has over 15 miles of hiking trails, and what’s interesting about the trails here is that several have different climates, wildlife, and plant life thanks to the varying elevations. Additionally, four miles of the Arizona National Scenic Trail pass through Oracle State Park. Besides being loved by hikers, the park is a great place for mountain bikers and those with horses. And although the park is a day-use only park, the fun doesn’t end when the sun goes down. Designated as an International Dark Sky Park by the International Dark-Sky Association, the American Avenue trailhead parking lot remains open throughout the night to accommodate stargazers.

Coronado National Forest is as stunning as it is diverse. Spreading across 1.78 million acres in southeastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico, visitors can hike, camp, bird watch, go horseback riding, do some off-roading, check out historical areas, or just see the sites. Winter sports are possible at higher elevations. Mount Lemmon Ski Valley, at 9,157 feet, in the Santa Catalina Mountains is the southernmost ski area in the United States. You can even enjoy fishing and boating in this arid landscape at places such as Rose Canyon Lake.

The Arizona National Scenic Trail is a picturesque and diverse 800-mile trail that runs from Mexico to Utah and across Arizona. The trail links canyons, forests, mountains, deserts, and communities, and is sectioned off into 43 passages. Enjoy a short day hike, saddle up for a long-distance backpacking trip, or just ditch your Oracle RV rental and do the whole 800 miles in one fell swoop.

RV Parks

Looking for a place to park your motorhome rental? Oracle has several RV parks you can call home for the night. One option is Hay Creek Ranch. At the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains, this horse ranch/RV park has spacious pull-through sites with full hookups. Guests have access to a community room with a full kitchen, laundry facilities, and bathrooms with showers. Bring your horses, too, because Hay Creek Ranch has stables, or you can ride one of the ranch’s horses to explore the scenic lands of Oracle, Arizona.

You can also check out Wishing Well RV Park in Catalina. Most sites at Wishing Well have full hookups with 30 amp electrical service (although a few sites have 50 amps). Should you find yourself with a mild case of cabin fever while in your RV rental from Oracle, come to the community center. Here, you can watch TV, play cards and board games, check out what’s available in the video library, or settle down with a cup of coffee and a book from the book exchange. The community center also has a laundry facility and bathrooms with showers. Bring your furry friends because Wishing Well is pet-friendly.

Exploring the City

Although there are several natural areas and state parks in and around Oracle, it doesn’t take a scientist to tell you that you won’t be encountering any rain forests or oceans in southern Arizona. Unless you’re visiting Biosphere 2, that is! Biosphere 2 is a science research facility owned and operated by the University of Arizona. The goal of the center is to research and inform the masses about Earth, its living systems, and our place in the universe. Visitors can choose from a variety of tours in which they can wander through the facility’s rainforest, stand on the ocean overlook, or travel underground into one of the facility’s “lungs.” Check it out when you search for an RV in Pinal County.

Interested in learning more about Oracle? Check out the Oracle Historical Society. Founded in 1977, the museum seeks to preserve historical artifacts and spread awareness of the community of Oracle and the surrounding areas. The museum's exhibits are widespread in their topics yet with a focus on Oracle’s history. Of particular interest, the “Health Seekers in Oracle” exhibit details the rise of tuberculosis and other lung ailment sanatoriums in Oracle. And if you’re planning on renting a motorhome in Oracle in April, be sure to check out the annual car show.

While you’re in the area, be sure to visit Tucson. Less than an hour's drive away, there’s something for everyone in Tucson. Check out Saguaro National Park or Sabino Canyon Recreation Area if you want to spend time outdoors. Visiting Tucson with kids? Check out Reid Park Zoo or Children’s Museum Tucson. And if you’re looking to do some shopping or eating — well, the opportunities are endless. So, no matter what your idea of “fun” looks like, your next adventure awaits when you book an RV rental near Oracle.
