Piedmont, South Carolina, is a short drive south of Greenville, and sits along the scenic Saluda River. As its name suggests, this tiny town is located in the heart of the South Carolinian Piedmont - the state’s scenic gateway to Appalachia. Since some of the state’s best outdoor adventure lies within these rolling hills, renting an RV in Piedmont is the best way to enjoy South Carolina’s Piedmont region.

When you rent an RV in Piedmont, you can explore scenic parks like Paris Mountain State Park and Table Rock State Park, or you can head into the city and enjoy a walk through the gardens at Falls Park on the Reedy. Once you’ve worn yourself out in the great outdoors, you can head back to a cozy RV campground or grab dinner and drinks in town or in Downtown Greenville. Book an RV in Piedmont to get the most out of everything that Northwest South Carolina has to offer.

The Great Outdoors

South Carolina’s Piedmont region offers visitors looking for outdoor adventure the best of both worlds - there’s no shortage of recreational opportunities and scenic views, but unlike more mountainous areas, you won’t have to worry much about cell reception or driving your RV on dangerous roads. Paris Mountain State Park is just a short drive away, and it offers a wide variety of activities for visitors to enjoy. Hiking enthusiasts can enjoy 15 miles of trails, and bird watchers can delight in plentiful watch points throughout the park. Visitors looking to spend a day on the water can enjoy swimming, fishing, and boating on one of the park’s four lakes.

If you’re willing to make the drive, Table Rock State Park is another worthwhile destination. Water recreation enthusiasts can enjoy boating, fishing, and swimming on Lake Oolenoy, and the park even offers year-round kayak, canoe, and fishing boat rentals as well as seasonal paddle boat rentals. If you’d prefer to stay off of the water, then you can enjoy the park’s extensive multi-use trail system and head to the top of Table Rock for breathtaking views of the Appalachian Foothills.

RVers who prefer to stay closer to the city can check out Falls Park on the Reedy or Lake Conestee Nature Park. Falls Park on the Reedy is located close to the center of Greenville, making it an easy stop for visitors looking for a slice of nature while visiting the city. Visitors can enjoy walking and biking trails that take them to a scenic waterfall and rapids through gorgeous gardens. If you’d prefer to stay out of the city, head to Lake Conestee. This park offers 12 miles of hiking trails, and if you’re interested in learning more about South Carolina’s natural beauty, you can take a guided hike. Lake Conestee is also one of the best birding sites in South Carolina - especially during fall and spring migration seasons.

RV Parks

Although you won’t find many RV parks in Piedmont, there are a good few to choose from in the surrounding area. If you want to stay as close to the city as possible, check out the Ivy Acres RV Park or the Springwood RV Park. Ivy Acres is just between Greenville and Piedmont, and it offers basic amenities like full hookups, Wi-Fi, and an on-site fishing pond. Springwood is also in nearby Greenville, and it offers a solid slew of basics as well, including modern restrooms, full hookups, and concrete patios at each site.

You can also camp at the state parks mentioned above. Paris Mountain State Park offers campsites suitable for RVs up to 35-40 feet, depending on the site. These sites come with water and electrical hookups, and in the campgrounds, visitors can access showers and a dump station. Camping at Table Rock State Park is more extensive and most sites have water and electrical hookups. Like Paris Mountain, the campgrounds at Table Rock offer basic amenities like showers and a dump station.

If you’d prefer more amenities and are happy with a longer drive, check out the Anderson/Lake Hartwell KOA or the Travelers Rest/North Greenville KOA. At Anderson/Lake Hartwell, you’ll have a full-service RV park with amenities like a seasonal pool, on-site mini golf, and plentiful basic amenities like laundry, modern restrooms, and Wi-Fi. You’ll find similar amenities at Travelers Rest/North Greenville, which offers full-hookup sites, a pet run, and an on-site general store. You’ll surely find a great home base when you rent an RV in Piedmont.
