Pierson, FL, is also known as the “Fern Capital of the World.” As the title suggests, this town’s main product is growing ferns for floral arrangements and other decorations. Navigating through the town, you’ll spot 6200 acres of ferns being grown alongside roads, shaded by heavy netting to simulate the filtered light in dense woods.

The closest large town is Orlando, about 60 miles to the south. The Atlantic Ocean is only 30 miles to the east. The drive to the Gulf of Mexico is a longer one, about 100 miles to the west. Nearby attractions include a nudist resort, a wildlife park, riverboat and airboat tours, “mom n’ pop” type restaurants, and small theaters.

The Atlantic-coast beaches offer a number of activities, including water sports, shopping, Nascar races, and watching rocket launches at Cape Canaveral. Historic tours are also available in the older towns along the coast.

There are several national and state parks in the area that offer limitless activities, including kayaking, biking, horseback riding, and hiking. Birdwatching and wildlife-spotting is also popular here.

The Great Outdoors

When you book an RV in Pierson, you’ll gain access to a number of outdoor activities at the nearby parks. The Ocala National Forest, for example, has over 600 lakes and several miles of trails. A couple of horse stables are located nearby where you may house your horse temporarily or go on guided horseback rides. The Heart Island Conservation Area is a prime spot to take your camper rental from Pierson; though it’s a smaller park, it’s quiet and secluded.

Bring your Pierson luxury motorhome rental to Daytona Beach, which is less than 30 miles east. Experience all the fun to be had along 23 miles of Atlantic coastline. Go for scenic drives, explore historic sites, experience the thrills of the Boardwalk & Pier, visit the Daytona International Speedway, climb to new heights at Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and more.

Port Canaveral, nicknamed the “Florida’s Fun Portal,” offers a number of waterfront entertainment like live music, charter boats, surfing, fishing. Palm Coast and St. Augustine, further up the coast to the north, also is a prime destination for beach goers and people with an interest in history. RV Parks

When you book your Pierson RV rental, you’ll need someplace to park it overnight for a few days or more.

The Sunny Sands Resort is just a couple of miles away, and offers lots for up to 42” rigs, 50 amps, and water and sewer. hookups. Wi-Fi is available, as well. Be warned, though, this is a nudist resort.

Georgetown Marina RV park, about 20 miles to the northwest, has lots for both boats and RVs; in addition to laundry, shower, and Wi-Fi, it also has marina fuel store, a boat launch, and a convenience store with boating necessities stocked.

RV parks in the immediate areas are limited. There are a number of RV parks and resorts along Daytona Beach, though, and several offer beach access. Coral Sands Oceanfront RV Resort, for example, has an oceanfront pool, a bathhouse, and lots with ocean views. The Daytona RV park is closer to the town’s main street, but within walking distance of the beach.

When driving your travel trailer rental from Pierson, you may find it necessary to stop somewhere overnight. There is a Walmart in DeLand and in Ormond Beach, just north of Daytona. Be sure to ask the manager for permission.

There are a couple of grocery stores in Pierson, and parking is limited. The town’s sole gas station should be able to accommodate an RV, but if you’re unsure of the lenght, it may be best to stop at one of the gas stations along Interstate 95.

Exploring the City

Pierson is a tiny town, but there’s plenty of things to do and see nearby. The Barberville Pioneer Settlement, just two miles south, illustrates life in rural Florida.

Does the Stetson Hat ring a bell? The famous hat worn by cowboys and rustlers of the old west was designed by John B. Stetson, who resided in Florida during the winter months. The Stetson Mansion in DeLand offers an in-depth tour of one of the grandest mansions in Florida. Tour schedules can be irregular and reservations are required. Call ahead to get the schedule.

For shopping, museums, art galleries, head back to the Atlantic coast. Daytona Beach, for example, has a number of fun shops on its boardwalk, and museums, as well. The Ponce de Leon Museum retells the story about infamous Ponce de Leon and his ghastly end.
