A little over an hour's drive south of the state capital of Raleigh is Pinehurst. Golf enthusiasts may recognize the name as it has been the site of numerous golf championships through the years. The town was originally established in the late 19th century when James Walker Tufts purchased 500 acres (to which he would eventually add 5,500 more acres of land) in the North Carolina Sandhills. His goal was to create a “health resort for people of modest means.” Eventually what was originally Tuftstown became known as Pinehurst. It also became known as the home of the Pinehurst Resort. When you book one of the RV rentals in Pinehurst, you may be situated toward the southern portion of the state of North Carolina, but you will have plenty to explore with regard to outdoor adventures.

A short drive away is the Uwharrie National Forest near Biscoe. And if you want to enjoy some wonderful hiking trails that run along the river, or possibly even head out for some tubing with your family when you have the best RV rental in Pinehurst, you might want to visit Raven Rock State Park near Lillington and Cape Fear. If you’re ready to take a bit of a drive in that motorhome rental from Pinehurst, head east toward the Outer Banks and visit the Croatan National Forest near Jacksonville.
