On the banks of the Susquehanna River near the northern part of the Chesapeake Bay, Port Deposit remains one of the best places to visit in all of northern Maryland. This charming town by the river serves as a link to the river, the bay, and by extension, the Atlantic Ocean, so there are quite a few marinas and boats in Port Deposit too.

Port Deposit was one of the first places to be visited by the Europeans back in the early 17th century, with exploratory expeditions sent up the Chesapeake Bay to search for ideal settlement locations. When a town was eventually established, it would serve as a crucial crossing point and ferry location, helping send people and goods across the river.

Now, Port Deposit sits just off Interstate 95, an important highway spanning the entire eastern seaboard. While tons of traffic comes by the small town each day, it remains far enough removed from the commotion to remain a peaceful refuge from nearby cities like Baltimore and Washington D.C. There are numerous places to check out for nature lovers, and a wealth of attractions based in the many metro areas surrounding Interstate 95, making Port Deposit an excellent place to rent an RV.

Dark Hollow Falls Trail is a fantastic place to try out your hiking skills, with tons of breathtaking vantage points and majestic waterfalls along the way. The Skyline Drive is by far the most popular feature of this national park, however, with millions of people driving over the Blue Ridge Mountains each year, taking advantage of stunning, high-elevation views.
