Raymer is a statutory town in Weld County, Colorado, but is legally known by two names: Raymer (by the state of Colorado) and New Raymer (by the U.S. Postal Service). The original Raymer townsite was platted in 1888, shortly before the opening of the Raymer post office in June of the same year. Unfortunately, the town did not succeed and families began to move away until the post office was closed in 1895. The township was replatted in 1909, followed by the opening of a new post office in November of that year; however, in 1919 the town was incorporated as the Town of Raymer while the postal service continued to insist that the post office be named New Raymer (so it wouldn't be confused with the first, now defunct, post office) and refused to deliver mail to any address titled “Raymer”. To date, the postal service still continues its argument, as does the state.

Search for an RV in Weld County and you are steps away from vacationing in comfort and style as you explore the state of Colorado. A number of other towns and cities are also interesting and worth visiting, such as Sterling, which is the northeastern Colorado hub for shopping and home to many chain stores. Greeley, declared an official city in 1886, has always maintained a balance between farming/agriculture and modern, up-to-date technology. Fort Collins was created as a U.S. Army outpost in 1864 but was then decommissioned in 1867. Boulder has a large number of local breweries and has been called “America's foodiest town”. Denver, also known as “The Mile High City”, has approximately 300 days per year of sunshine and is a blend of natural and manmade beauty. Your Raymer travel trailer rental is how you will roll into town in style and comfort from the moment you arrive.

Discover Raymer

The Great Outdoors

Pawnee National Grassland is a recreational preserve within a river basin. Its purpose is to allow some activity while protecting the environment and wildlife that exist within it. Visitors to the park are allowed to engage in hiking or biking, horseback riding, fishing, and some other activities. Camping is allowed, as is hunting and fishing in season and with the proper licenses. Keep your Raymer camper rental nearby and you can combine the rugged outdoors with the creature comforts of home, having the best of both worlds.

Red Mountain Open Space is a public recreation area providing visitors with opportunities to hike, mountain bike, or go horseback riding. It has numerous multi-use trails, some of which connect to trails in neighboring protected reserves. The park has picnic tables and outdoor restrooms located intermittently, and hunting is allowed in season with the correct permits. The park is open seasonally, in the spring, summer, and fall.

Rocky Mountain National Park is a popular location for hiking, camping, and animal viewing. Visitors should be on the lookout for moose and mule deer, big horned sheep, coyotes, and black bears; visitors should refrain from approaching the park residents even though some, like the marmots, are socialized to people (most aren't and feeding the marmots is still not a good idea). There are hundreds of miles of well-kept trails with information posts, many leading to the mountain summit which has an elevation of 12,000 feet at its peak.

Barr Lake RV Park is an open area RV campground with a few trees, dirt roads and pads, and some grass/lawn areas. Some sites have picnic tables and hookups; the park has laundry facilities, restrooms and showers, and it is child and pet-friendly.

This is the best part about vacations, doing whatever you want. And it's all good.
