Discover Ridley Park

The Great Outdoors

The beauty of this town comes from its location. Not only is it close to big cities and convenient transport links, but it is also the natural landscape that surrounds the town that inspires you to go out and explore nature! This is the perfect location to explore the great outdoors with your Ridley Park motorhome rental.

Accessible on foot from town is the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. This really should be first on your list when visiting the area. Originally opened in 1972 with the aim of preserving, restoring and developing the natural area of Tinicum Marsh, the center now wishes to educate visitors on the environment by giving them the chance to study wildlife in its natural habitat. The refuge is beaming with a variety of wildlife at any time of the year!

You can also find several parks downtown that resemble those you may expect to find in New York. The neighboring East Lake Park and Ridley Park Lake, both bounteous with open green pastures, provide a moment of respite from the busy towns. These parks have plenty of trails for a leisurely stroll as well as a large lake, which is ideal for a day of fishing!

Slightly further out of town, away from the crowds is Chester Creek. Many visit to marvel at the sparkling river that runs through the area that so greatly contrasts against the rocky outcrops. Lace up your walking shoes and head out to do at least part of the Chester Creek Trail – a paved path which takes you on a gentle walk around the creek, showcasing the best bits!

RV Parks

Being located in a relatively built-up area, there are limited choices to park your RV for the night in Ridley Park. Don’t worry though; some of the best options for parking your Ridley Park camper rental are not too far away.

Ridley Creek Campgrounds is located in Ridley Creek State Park, just north of the town, and is primarily made up of woodlands and meadows. This campground is very basic with flushing toilets, but there are no showers available. Perfect for a quick and quiet overnight stay!

For something a little more comfortable cross the Delaware River and head to Philadelphia South KOA. With modern, well-maintained amenities and full hookups for your luxury motorhome rental from Ridley Park, it is the ideal location to have as your base camp while you explore what the rest of Delaware County has to offer.

Exploring the City

To learn a little more about the industrial past in the area, head to Baldwin Locomotive Works. A manufacturer of railroad locomotives from 1825 to 1956, the company, at one point, was the world’s largest producer of steam trains! Unfortunately, by 1949 there was no longer a need for steam trains, and the company soon shut down. Today, visitors are able to visit the site’s museum that houses some of the original steam trains as well as informative displays of the 150-year old history of the world-renowned company!

There are several other houses in the area that provide an even more intricate dose of Pennsylvanian History for visitors. Morton Morton House is a historic home that was built as early as 1750. Carefully preserved by the historical society, this house is open for the general public to visit and, whilst there, educate themselves about what life was like during the 1700’s. Even older than that is Caleb Pusey’s House, built in the 1400’s. This unique, English style house was once home to William Penn, the founder of the state of Pennsylvania. Inside visitors can witness original furnishings and informative displays.

If you are looking for a break, not too far away from the bustling big cities, consider a camper rental in Ridley Park. With its rich history, gorgeous outdoor landscapes and a friendly community, rent an RV in Ridley Park, PA and go explore!
