The site of Rosedale was once a patchwork of farms, and later, cobbled together into a plantation. The plantation owner parceled the land and sold the lots. These parcels eventually became Rosedale. It’s unknown exactly when Rosedale was officially founded, but it likely was in the late 19th century. As the local lore goes, in the 1880s, a young Englishman whose name was Dale had a small farm with rose hedges and bushes.

Today, Rosedale is a quiet bedroom community for Baltimore. Among its notable residents is Mike Rowe, who is known for his work on Discovery Channel show, Dirty Jobs, and several other shows. The perfect Rosedale RV rental will make exploring Baltimore and the Maryland shore fun.

Discover Rosedale

The Great Outdoor

Maryland has many wonderful wilderness parks and beaches. Embark on an adventure of a lifetime in a Rosedale RV rental. North Point State Park, overlooking the Chesapeake Bay, is a small 2,100-acre park with stellar views of the waterfront. Several miles of multi-use trails take hikers and bikers through scrub woods and marshy wildlands. Wading and swimming along the coast are allowed; however, swimmers should implement a buddy system. There are no lifeguards. The two piers, one of which is over 1,000 feet long, offers plenty of fishing and crabbing opportunities.

The Gunpowder Falls State Park, clocking in at nearly 20,000 acres, has a huge variety in ecosystems that attracts a wide range of wildlife from marine to deep wood. Over 120 miles of multi-use trails offer opportunities for unique adventures. Hike, bike, horseback ride, kayak, canoe, and in wintertime, cross-country ski. Fishermen and anglers can explore the myriad creeks, ponds, and lakes, and try their hand at catching cold- or warm-water fish like smallmouth bass, catfish, and bluegill. The longest trail, called Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail, stretches nearly 20 miles, all the way up to the Pennsylvania-Maryland Border. Small-game archery hunting is permitted in certain sections of the park, and the Hammerman Area has an archery range for practice purposes. Although camping isn’t allowed, parking is plentiful and can accommodate your Rosedale travel trailer rental.

RV Parks

When you search for a motorhome rental in Rosedale, MD, don’t forget to figure out where you’ll park overnight. This close to Baltimore, street parking is frowned upon. There are a handful of private campgrounds in the area that may work. The Bar Harbor RV Park in Abington has been in the business for well over 50 years. Overlooking the Bush River, which merges with the Chesapeake Bay, many lots have waterfront views. The on-site marina also has small craft boats, kayaks, and canoes available to rent.

Conveniently close to the city, Patapsco Valley State Park of Ellicott City has RV-friendly campgrounds. Although the sites are fairly utilitarian, some lots do have electric hookups, and there are hot showers and restroom facilities.

Exploring the City

No visit to the Baltimore area is complete without a tour of the fabulous Inner Harbor, and a Rosedale motorhome rental will make it a snap to get around town in style. The National Aquarium, built right on the docks, has several exhibits featuring different aquatic environments from around the world. Packed with interactive fun, visitors are encouraged to touch the stingrays, anemones, and jellyfish, and shows in which dolphins show off their leaps and dances. The Maryland Science Center isn’t just for the kids. The interactive exhibits include an IMAX theater, planetarium, and a rooftop observatory. The educational displays demonstrate how bodies work, the current theories about dinosaurs, and the law of motion in Newton’s Alley. Get in touch with your “inner weird” at Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum in Baltimore. This museum features a T-Rex made from pop-tart wrappers, shrunken heads, animal skeletons, the world’s largest penny, and a wacky mirror maze to get lost in.

Golfing, crabs, and Maryland go hand-in-hand. There are several golf courses in the area, many of which were designed by some of the top architects in the world. Rocky Point Golf Course, near Essex, is the only waterfront golf course on this side of the Chesapeake Bay. The par-72 course has large greens and bunkers that require strategizing to navigate. The background noise of waves lapping at the shoreline makes for a pleasant day at the fairway. There is also a small driving range, putting green, and chipping and pitching green for practice.

Baltimore’s oldest crab house was established in 1897 Rosedale, MD. The hundred-plus-year-old business sells some of the world’s best and freshest seafood. Steam up your own crabs and shrimps and crack open a cold one! A Rosedale RV rental will open up a world of adventure, delicious food, and fun.
