Seabrook is a town in Harris County, Texas. The land that Seabrook sits on was purchased in 1895 by Seabrook W. Sydnor, and a layout of the town was completed in 1903. The town's location on the bay attracted anglers and merchants, making fishing the town economy's main source early on. A hurricane in Galveston in 1900 damaged the town, destroying the town's school, but the school was rebuilt by 1905. Seabrook's population remained relatively stable up to and throughout the Great Depression but the construction of a shipyard in 1947 created jobs and spurred another population growth. A second hurricane, Carla, created more damage but did not stop the construction of a bridge between Seabrook and Kemah. The completion of the bridge in 1961 and the opening of the Johnson Space Center in Houston caused the population to surge yet again. Although fishing was the original town industry, it has been supplemented today by other industries; locals and tourists continue to buy seafood on Waterfront Drive, but the town's residents work in a variety of professions, including the chemical and oil industries and the NASA Space Program. The town annually holds a classic car show and a festival of the arts, among others.

Book an RV in Harris County, and and you are ready to sail forth on an adventure that most tourists only dream about. There are other towns and cities that warrant exploring. Galveston's first settlements were built by pirates to help Mexico fight for independence from Spain. Angleton was awarded the county seat in 1896 over its bitter rival Brazoria and won a county-wide election for the seat again in 1913; each year Angleton hosts one of Texas' largest fairs, the Brazoria County Fair. Pearland was originally named “Mark Belt” until a Polish noble, Witold von Zychlinski, decided that Pearland would be a better name (after the variety of local orchards, one of which was pears). Humble had the largest producing oilfield in Texas in 1905, after having discovered oil on its territory only two years earlier, and was home to Humble Oil which later became Exxon. Baytown is home to the Lynchburg Ferry which was established around the same time as Baytown in 1822. Your Seabrook travel trailer rental is your opportunity to learn about this authentic and undisturbed section of Texas.

The Great Outdoors

Armand Bayou Nature Center is a semi-cultivated nature preserve offering outdoor recreation to the general public. Guests can enjoy the many nature trails on their own or join a guided hike; park staff offer tours by day or night. The night tours highlight bats, owls, and fireflies, and explain their relationship to the environment. Guests can also explore the park on a pontoon cruise or a guided canoe tour. A family-friendly boardwalk winds its way through the forests and marshes, and the park has year-round events, a traditional 1890's replica farmhouse, and a nature center with a Bison Observation Deck. Keep your Seabrook camper rental nearby, and you can combine outdoor adventure with the comforts of home, enjoying the best of both.

Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge is a bottomland hardwood landscape that was inhabited as far back as 1,000 years ago; the refuge was established in 1994 to protect the forests from urban expansion and to provide a safe habitat for resident and migrating animals. There are a wide variety of mammals, reptiles, and vegetation in the park, making it an ideal setting for nature observation and photography. Hunting and fishing are also allowed.

Clear Lake Park is an urban recreational area offering a variety of activities. The park is divided by a road; on the south side of the park, there is a playground with swings and other structures, picnic tables with barbecue pits, and more. On the north side, there are baseball, softball, and soccer fields, and tennis courts. The north side has additional picnic tables and a smaller playground. The park has a community center, a museum located in a historic home on the lake, and a boat ramp.
