The town of Sebastian began as a fishing village sometime before 1870 and was officially founded in 1882. In 1923, it was incorporated as a city. The city has an average yearly temperature of 73.4 degrees, making Sebastian a year-round playground. The small town has a thriving arts community and is host to various festivals each month of the year; rent an RV in Sebastian and drive your home on wheels from one event to the next.

Sebastian also has a mystery. Sebastian sits on the Treasure Coast, so named because legend has it that several Spanish ships, carrying a fortune in gold, were lost off of this coast around 1715. A small portion of the cargo is said to have been recovered; the entire cargo is estimated to be worth millions of dollars in today's currency. Now you have two reasons to vacation here. Get lucky and maybe this Sebastian rental RV vacation ends up paying for itself (and then some).

Book an RV in Sebastian and you can now explore this part of Florida from the comfort of your mobile lodging. Florida has history, weather, food and more on its side, and its people are waiting to share all of these with you. Start in Sebastian, but if you have the time, check out some of the other nearby towns and cities, such as Vero Beach, Fort Pierce, Palm Bay, and West Palm Beach. All of these are within easy driving distance.

Discover Sebastian

The Great Outdoors

Indian River County has lakes, ocean beaches, parks and more to share with its guests. Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area is about an hour’s drive from Sebastian and it has many different styles of landscape, such as pine flatwood forest stands, dry prairie and more. It has a wide array of activities on hand, from hiking, cycling and horseback riding, to fishing, hunting, birding and nature studies, covering an area of 63,000 acres.

Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park offers hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and animal watching. It is a dry prairie, so visitors can expect to see deer, turkeys, and other prairie birds, snakes, cranes and more. And bugs (so don't forget the bug spray).

Arbuckle Wildlife Management Area has boating on Lake Arbuckle and good hiking. It is also close to Lake Livingston, Lake Clinch, and Reedy Lake. Arbuckle also allows for RV camping, if you don't mind operating your Sebastion RV rental without hookups for a day or two.

RV Parks

Camelot RV Park is to the north, near Melbourne, FL. It is a 55+ resort but children are allowed to visit as registered guests. It has a heated pool, full hookups, concrete patios with picnic tables, laundry, Wi-Fi and a recreation hall with games and activities.

Fort Pierce / Port St Lucie KOA is south of Sebastian and is a smaller, minimalist style RV camp. It has hookups, Wi-Fi, and a dog park. It also has an excellent view of the harbor and often gets cool breezes off of the water.

Vero Beach Kamp, near Wabasso, is 14.5 acres of grassy pads, each with a concrete patio & picnic table for you to enjoy the fresh air. There are sites with full hookups, and also restrooms, showers, laundry, a playground, and pool; it is pet-friendly and has a convenience store.

All three of these RV parks are open all year round. Park your Sebastian motorhome rental at one of these sites or any others for a comfortable and relaxing vacation.

Exploring The City

City dwellers will be happy to know that there is much to see and do within the city limits. Those who enjoy checking out museums should head over to Mel Fisher's Treasure Museum. As the name implies, it is dedicated to famed treasure hunter Mel Fisher (this is the Treasure Coast, remember?), who has been plying his trade since the 1960s. Other notable museums worth checking out are McLarty Treasure Museum (eg. the competition) and the Sebastian Fishing Museum.

There are farmers markets where produce freshly harvested that day can be bought, and an environmental learning center at nearby Vero Beach. Adrenaline junkies can go skydiving or try their hand at flyboarding (a high powered water pressure board you stand on). Canoes and kayaks can be rented to enjoy the pristine quiet of being out on the water (away from the fly boards, presumably), and the North County Aquatic Center can entertain an entire family, young and old.

When the energy has dissipated and the sun is getting low, it is time to replenish the body and Sebastian does this with flair. There is nothing quite as satisfying to those with hollow legs than Chinese food, and lots of it. Sebastian has various Chinese food outlets, plus multiple outlets serving Japanese and Thai food. There are steak houses, pub restaurants, pizzerias, Mexican venues, and more; what there isn't is a valid excuse for anyone to go hungry.

Those who might tire of eating out can find the supplies they need at any of Sebastian's supermarkets and grocery stores for a home cooked meal in the Sebastian camper rental. There are specialty as well as standard fare grocers and at least one Walmart with parking to fit an RV for an overnight stay.
