Suwanee is a city in Gwinnett County, Georgia, known for its commitment to environmental causes and healthy lifestyles. It began as a Native American village along the Chattahoochee River but in 1837 received its first post office and was officially recognized. The Georgia Air Line Railroad reached Suwanee in 1871, bringing people and economic trade with it, and its first hotel in 1880. However, a fire in 1881 burned down all but one building on Main Street and the city's growth stagnated until the 1920s. The arrival of several highways in the 20th century reinvigorated the city and it began to blossom again. Today, Suwanee has numerous urban parks, a system of trails and sidewalk paths connecting neighborhoods, and a bike share program initiated in 2016. Each year, it hosts the Suwanee Half Marathon and has won awards for its commitment to environmentalism and sustainable living.

RV rentals in Gwinnett County are plentiful and suited to Georgia's climate and geography. There are other cities that visitors should notice. Buford's Main Street is where you will find the Tannery Row Artist Colony, a collection of 30 artists who make and sell their furniture and craftwork. Dacula has a small-town atmosphere which it welcomes visitors and locals to share together. Loganville has a number of celebrities in sports, music, and acting, and was mentioned as the hometown of main character Amanda Rollins in the TV series Law & Order: SVU. Tucker is an unincorporated community, one of the oldest and largest such communities in the state of Georgia. Norcross was named after Jonathan Norcross, the fourth mayor of Atlanta, and was known earlier on as “Atlanta's Favorite Summer Resort”. Your Suwanee travel trailer rental is how you will turn these places from map points into memories.

The Great Outdoors

Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, Island Ford Unit is a river valley serving two purposes, urban outdoor recreation and environmental protection. Visitors to the area have the opportunity to fish, kayak, or hike. Anglers can try their hand at catching yellow bullhead or rainbow trout. Hikers and photographers will have opportunities to view a long list of wildlife species that exist here, such as red and common gray foxes, white-tailed deer, and skunks (you may want to photograph the skunks from a distance). There are also plant, bird, and reptile species that are interesting and worth watching for.

Settles Bridge Park is a cultivated outdoor recreation area with soft and paved hiking trails, a playground and skate complex, and outdoor basketball courts. There are pavilions and restrooms and a dog park area. Keep your Suwanee RV trailer rental nearby and you can enjoy coffee and a hot lunch or snack after or between activities.

Collins Hill Park is an indoor and outdoor recreation area that is open from dawn to late evening. There are courts for team sports such as baseball, basketball, and sand volleyball, an aquatic center with leisure play areas and competition pools, and much more. Visitors looking for a relaxed experience can enjoy the pavilion and grill, and there are public restrooms.

RV Parks

There are numerous RV parks and campgrounds in the area surrounding Suwanee, but many of these have mobile home and/or longer-term guests. Your Suwanee camper rental is your guarantee that your stay will be comfortable and relaxing.

Stone Mountain Heights RV Park is an RV campground with trees and large grass areas. The park rents sites by the day, week, or month, with some restrictions. It has a swimming pool, laundry facilities, and other amenities. It is close to shopping, restaurants, and downtown Atlanta. Individual sites have full hookups and patios; some sites have gravel pads.

Twin Lakes RV Park is a rustic, semi-developed RV campground with paved roads, picnic tables, and a nearby lake. Sites are rented by the day or month and include water and electricity; some sites include sewer, and there is a dump station on site. Guests can enjoy a game of horseshoes or watch the magnificent evening sunsets.

Exploring The City

There is a lot to see and do around Suwanee, starting with the theaters and museums. One of the museums focuses on the history of trains in the region and has numerous old train modules that kids can climb around on, with even more exhibits inside. Another venue is part museum and part music hall, located in an old house, and has been there since 1964. Local and main attraction bands play country, bluegrass, and more; the rooms are decorated with bluegrass and other genre memorabilia. There are indoor and outdoor playgrounds and one of them is a water park with fountains for the kids to run in, and there are grass areas and shade for the adults. Be sure to end your vacation with at least one cruise in your Suwanee motorhome rental; RVs were made for cruising the highways without a destination. You should try this at least once.

When it's time for dinner, there are just as many restaurants to choose from as there are activities around the town. Guests can choose from seafood and barbecue, Asian and Indian cuisines, and much more. A Mexican restaurant serves its dishes in big portions and at a reasonable price. Diners eating here should try the beef brisket tamales. A Japanese restaurant has a hibachi area on one side and a bar on the other; the menu has a mix of teppanyaki dishes, tempura, and sushi. Some of the sushi dishes are creative and unique, and there is also a selection of Chinese dishes on the menu. Don't be embarrassed if you can't finish your meal; taking doggy bags home to your Suwanee luxury RV rental is almost a vacation requirement and what could be better than a delicious midnight snack under a star-filled sky?
