The Toccoa Falls is a waterfall with a vertical drop, meaning that the falls don't run down rocks, they run off a ledge and pour into a river below. Toccoa is the Cherokee Indian word for ‘beautiful.' The falls are 187 feet from top to bottom, and to put it into perspective, that's the equivalent of a 17-story building.

Yonah Lake is a 320-acre lake that offers boat ramps and is a well-known lake for water skiing. Near the powerhouse on the lake, you will find a jumping rock and a rope swing for those hot summer days by the lake.

Currahee RV Park is located within six miles of Toccoa Falls on Cawthon Road. Currahee Campground offers both back-in and pull-through spaces. All sites offer electric hook-ups for your RV and several provide sewer hook-ups as well. Amenities at this location include shower houses, laundry facilities, WiFi, and overlooks of the North Broad River. Each site at this campground also provides a picnic table, as well as a fire ring providing you an opportunity to spend those cool evenings roasting marshmallows.

Sunset Campground located in Martin is another option. This smaller campsite offers all the amenities that a campsite in the North Georgia Mountains provide should you be looking for a quiet stay. Full hook-ups, shower houses, laundry facilities, and WiFi are some of the key features at Sunset Campground.

Should you need a quick overnight stay, consider Walmart, truck stops, or larger grocery stores. There is a Walmart located within 10 miles of town and camping may be allowed at this location. Just check with the manager to get permission before parking your camper rental from Toccoa Falls.

Exploring the City

There's a variety of attractions located near Toccoa Falls that provide fun for people of all ages. The Currahee Military Museum is the city’s restored train depot. This museum houses the history of around 18,000 WWII soldiers that trained at Camp Toccoa to become paratroopers. The soldiers that trained here arrived at this train depot and faced a 5-mile hike to camp. The museum is self-guided and has a gift shop conveniently located inside.

The Miles Through Time Automotive Museum, also located in Toccoa, is unique to other museums. Operated like a co-op, everything you find here in the museum actually belongs to a different person. Should you be in the market for a vehicle, some located in the museum are listed for sale. One unique feature is that it is located inside of a renovated 1939 Chrysler dealership, so you get to take a step back in time while you meander around. Miles Through Time Automotive Museum is open seasonally from April until October.
