The Great Outdoors

South of Trinity across the Pee Dee River, Morrow Mountain State Park is as close to nature as you could possibly get. It has 15 miles of hiking trails, 16 miles of trails for horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, lake or river swimming, and is open year round except for Christmas Day. There is a campground with space for your Trinity RV rental but no hookups, just a basic campground site. It has a swimming pool and changing room and is open seasonally.

Cross the Pee Dee River again and you will find Uwharrie National Forest, with 51,000 acres of forest, lakes, and rivers. Activities you can engage in are bicycling, hiking, rock climbing or rappelling, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, picnicking, nature viewing and more. Rock climbers can practice on a climbing wall or go on a guided climb. The park's office is in Troy and it has maps, informational handouts and the necessary permits (which are required for camping and most park activities). With permit in hand, you can cruise the park in your Trinity motorhome rental at your leisure, stopping as often as you like and wherever you want. Visitors can scan QR codes at selected points with their smartphones to download guided tour recordings or download them in advance for when they arrive at their destination.

RV Parks

There aren’t many RV parks or resorts within Trinity, but there are some close by in neighboring cities. Hagan-Stone Park is 15 miles away in Pleasant Garden. It has electricity and water, big rig access and pull through sites, a playground, and a swimming pool, and is pet-friendly. It has restrooms and showers, a picnic area and fishing pond, and there are plenty of hiking trails nearby. The pool has a crazy slide and other amenities.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Campground is in Asheboro, about 25 miles south. The park offers full hookups (electricity, water and sewer) and Wi-Fi. The sites are pull through and pets are allowed.

Zooland Family Campground is also near Asheboro. The sites are gravel and have full hookups, Wi-Fi, and are also pull through. They have big rig access, a picnic table, fire ring, and trees for shade, a swimming pool, playground and hiking trails nearby.

Exploring The City

When you rent an RV in Trinity, there are two museums worth visiting. One of them has displays of old tractors in mint condition, a steam engine, and other memorabilia. While here, there are two houses on other parts of the estate that offer tours, but the tours must be booked in advance.

Trinity has two vineyards and at least one brewery where one could spend a lazy afternoon. The brewery offers custom beers, cider for those who prefer something different, and food trucks. One of the vineyards offers wine tastings in a cedar log cabin; it doesn't have a lunch menu but offers cheese platters (for an additional price), or you could bring your own picnic lunch. All of these venues have outdoor seating; the vineyards have outdoor decks with views of Mount Shepherd and the Uwharrie Mountains, which are spectacular at sunset.

Trinity has a good selection of restaurants to choose from but this will allow you to try something different every day if you're in the mood. Trinity has at least one restaurant serving an all-day breakfast (which it should, considering this is vacation) and two restaurants that focus specifically on family-style meals. There are Mexican and Japanese restaurants, barbeque joints, and a few offering authentic Southern cuisine. Better yet, get some takeout and enjoy your evening meal in the comfort of the best RV rental in Trinity while taking in the stars and the nighttime sky.
