Waleska, Georgia is a small town in Cherokee County. The county is named for the first settlers of the area, the Cherokee. They lived in and around the area that is now Waleska. Initially, the families lived in harmony with the native Cherokee but eventually the Cherokee were forced off the land by government policy.
