Wooster is the county seat of Wayne County; it was established in 1812 by a group of men that included General George Armstrong Custer and named after American Revolution General David Wooster. Despite its size, Wooster's accomplishments are extensive. The city is Ohio's agricultural center, attracting Amish farmers to sell their produce and conduct business; it is the host of the Agricultural Technical Institute and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, two Ohio State University satellite campuses teaching and researching agricultural science. The center shares its research findings with local farmers, and the city is dedicated to education in general. A number of international industrial firms have Wooster headquarters.

Book an RV in Wayne County and you can choose from a wide variety of RV makes and models that will perfectly suit your needs. Other towns and cities have something to offer visitors too. Medina was originally named Mecca, but there was already an unincorporated town in Ohio by that name. Wadsworth once counted the iconic strike-anywhere blue tip matches as one of its manufacturing industry products (the industry departed in the 1980s) and holds an annual Blue Tip Festival to honor its past and raise money for non-profit groups. Massillon is where the first “cowcatcher” locomotive was invented and built. Millersburg was established with the building of the “Old Town” in 1815 and the “New Town” in 1824. Ashland is renowned for its welcome sign "The World Headquarters of Nice People." Your Wooster travel trailer rental is your invitation to explore the area.

The Great Outdoors

Cuyahoga Valley National Park is a semi-cultivated recreational area centered around two lakes and populated by forest stands and wildlife. Visitors can hike or mountain bike the park trails, one of which leads into Brandywine Falls. The park has two historic venues, Hale Farm and Village and the Blossom Music Center. Tubing and cross-country skiing are popular winter park activities; the park is open 24 hours a day all year, although lake activity is allowed from dawn to dusk.

Killbuck Marsh Wildlife Area is a former developed area that was allowed to return to its undisturbed nature. The marsh is home to a wide variety of bird species, such as trumpeter swans. It is a good destination for viewing the resident bird, reptile, and mammal species; visitors can take a self-guided auto tour around the park perimeter and spot some of the wildlife. It is also a popular spot for photography, fishing, and hunting. A small number of trails allow primitive hiking. Park your Wooster camper rental nearby, and use it as an observation blind.

Mohican-Memorial State Forest is a multi-use outdoor area providing plant and timber resources for cultivation as well as public recreation. The park constitutes the heart of “Mohican Country,” a popular state tourist destination consisting of large tree stands such as oak, hickory, cherry, white and red pine, and others. Several streams run through the park before joining the Mohican River. Prior to its establishment, some of the area was farmland that had been clearcut; once acquired, the land was quickly reforested and repopulated with white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and other wildlife species. The park is a good place to enjoy hunting (in season), fishing, hiking, and wildlife observation.

Roads in the park are paved, and there are restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, and a general store with propane, firewood, ice, and other necessities. Sites are rented by the day, week, or month and include electric and water hookups, picnic tables, and fire rings. The park hosts social activities on weekends and allows leashed pets. There are cabins for rent, and some sites are for tent camping.

Exploring The City
