Introduction

Featuring 17 square miles of surface area of water within the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, Webbers Falls Lock and Dam is a wonderful site for RV camping and recreational activities. Located about five miles northwest of the town of Webbers Falls in Oklahoma, this US Army Corps of Engineers park can be accessed by RVs, trailers, and other motorized vehicles with ease.
Among the things to do at Webbers Falls Lock and Dam are boating and paddling on the water; fishing for catfish, black bass, white bass, crappie and walleye; hiking and biking on diverse trails through the park and surrounding areas; and nature observation and photography. Opportunities to view and watch the wildlife in the park are also available to wildlife enthusiasts that visit this COE park. Sightseeing opportunities are open to adventurous campers and visitors who fancy trips to surrounding towns and attractions such as Greenleaf Lake State Park and Sequoyah State Park.
Tent and RV camping options are available on first-come, first-served basis within the campgrounds at this river park. Some of the amenities present in the park are fire grills, picnic tables, potable water, and boat launch.

Transportation

Driving

Located about five miles northwest of the town of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma, Webbers Falls Lock and Dam is easy to access by RVs, trailers, and other motorized vehicles via Muskogee Turnpike 351 and a series of major and minor roads. Navigation around the park is also easy. Equipment rentals are available at Muskogee.

Parking

Parking spaces are available for vacationers and visitors at and around Webbers Falls Lock and Dam. Overnight parking facilities are also available.

First-come first-served

Spaniard Creek

Spaniard Creek is a pet-friendly campground at Webbers Falls Lock and Dam that features 36 campsites that are open year-round and available on a first-come, first-served basis. This campground accommodates RVs, trailers, and tents and takes motorhomes up to 30 feet long.
30 campsites in this campground are equipped with electric and water hookups for RVs/trailers and consist of amenities such as fire grills, picnic tables, potable water, and boat launch.

Brewers Bend

Brewers Bend is a pet-friendly campground at Webbers Falls Lock and Dam that features 42 campsites that are open between March and November and available on a first-come, first-served basis. This campground accommodates RVs, trailers, and tents and takes motorhomes up to 30 feet long. Thirty-two campsites in this campground are equipped with electric and water hookups for RVs/trailers and consist of amenities such as fire grills, picnic tables, potable water, and boat launch.

In-Season

Boating

Pleasure boating opportunities are available for RV campers and visitors that fancy exploring the Webbers Falls Reservoir and Arkansas River. Therefore, campers love to come along with their vessels and watercraft to participate in exciting boating and paddling adventures that are open to all at this COE park. Oklahoma boating laws and US Army COE regulations guide the use of boats in this park and all boaters are required to be mindful of barge traffic on the river.

Fishing

Recreational fishing opportunities abound at Webbers Falls Lock and Dam for campers and visitors who enjoy the sport. Angling is particularly encouraged here due to the abundant fish species in the river.

Fishermen catch a wide variety of fish such as catfish, black bass, white bass, crappie, and walleye. At this river park, there is also a rapidly growing population of striped bass that attracts anglers within the area to the park. So, do not forget your fishing gear on your visit to this COE park.

Flora

Webbers Falls Lock and Dam is a beautiful place to visit for vacations and day explorations for its diverse colors and vegetative brilliance at different times of the year. In early spring, for example, the numerous flowering trees in the park such as dogwoods and redbuds decorate the park’s corridors and invites lots of visitors. These florae also bloom again in fall when the trees and foliage change color and present magnificent scenes. At this park, nature photography is a prime activity.

Off-Season

Trails

There are several trails in the Webbers Falls area that offer hiking and biking adventures for campers and visitors at Webbers Falls Lock and Dam. These trails range from easy walking trails to challenging hikes that test the endurance and strength of experienced explorers. Examples of these trails include Liberty Trail, Greg Smith River Trail, and Muskogee’s Centennial Trail. These trails offer campers the opportunity to explore the park’s surrounding areas as well as nearby towns.

Wildlife

Wildlife enthusiasts at Webbers Falls Lock and Dam have plenty of opportunities to enjoy viewing and hunting wildlife that is present within the park. About four square miles of project lands in this COE park is licensed to the State and managed by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation for hunting purposes. The game species present within this area include white-tailed deer, cottontail rabbit, fox squirrel, raccoon, bobwhite quail, and mink. Waterfowl species and swamp rabbit are also present within the park.

Sightseeing

If you wish to take an adventure outside the park, you can take a quick visit to some of the fascinating sites located within the surrounding areas. One of those is the oldest frontier fort in Oklahoma, known as Fort Gibson. This fort was established in 1824 and is located near the upper end of the reservoir. Muskogee is yet another interesting place to visit as it is home to a rich Native American heritage and the Five Civilized Tribes Museums.
