Introduction

Arrowhead State Park is situated in Southeastern Oklahoma on the peninsula of Eufaula, a massive lake, offering habitat to plenty of wildlife such as wild turkeys, deer, and rabbits. Spreading for 102,500 acres, Lake Eufaula is endowed with many water sports. Moreover, the on-site marina makes it convenient for aquatic adventure lovers to get everything under one roof.

Located on the southern edge of the lake in the Echo Ridge area, the marina is equipped with boating and fishing essentials. From fishing and waterskiing to wakeboarding guests can spend their entire day in the water and not get bored. Covering 2,200 acres the park offers RV vacationers a wide range of outdoor recreation.

For RV campers this is the perfect campground since there are a good number of campsites that offer full hookup services. If you love camping, you will be excited to discover that the campgrounds have centrally located and clean comfort stations. The Arrowhead State Park campground is equally accommodating to equestrians with well-maintained trails and designated campsites for them.

Not even distance can keep off guests from visiting Arrowhead State Park. For RVers living far away from Oklahoma, they can just take a flight and connect to an airstrip within the park then rent an RV nearby and enjoy camping in Arrowhead State Park. For day visitors there is a restaurant in the marina where you can enjoy your meals.

Transportation

Driving

Whether you are coming from Oklahoma City, Dallas, or Tusla, you should have no trouble getting to the park since it is within three hours driving distance. Conveniently located within an easy reach from SH 69 any vehicle can access the park. Some of the interior roads leading to the parks facility are paved while others are dirt, but all are manageable. Whether you prefer being on foot or horseback, the trails will lead you to the park’s attractions. Some facilities such as campsites and comfort stations temporarily closed during the winter.

Reservations camping

Arrowhead State Park Camping

Arrowhead State Park offers three pet-friendly campgrounds and an equestrian campground. There are 100 tent campsites and 91 RV sites. 40 of the RV sites are full hookup sites. Campsites can accommodate a trailer of up to 50 feet. Each campsite features a charcoal grill, fire pit, lantern holder, and picnic table.

This park offers a mix of reservable and walk-in sites. Camping reservations can be done at any time of the year. For shopping, restaurants, groceries, fuel, and laundromat services campers can drive to the nearby town of McAlester approximately eight miles south of the park.

Turkey Flat Campground

This is the most popular campground for RVs. It houses a total of 40 campsites equipped with electricity. 20 of the sites are full hookup and six are pull-through. Amenities include a dump station, flush toilets, and coin-operated showers. Most sites are open for reservation while some are available on first-come, first-served basis.

Lakeview Circle

Campsites in this area are strategically located along the lake to offer campers excellent water views. There is a playground and swimming area nearby.

Equestrian Camping

If you are avid equestrians you will fall in love with this campground. Hitching posts, water and electric hookups, and riding stables are some of the amenities offered. For kids there is a play area and a petting zoo available. The campground has horses for rent.

First-come first-served

Echo Ridge Campground

Located adjacent to the marina this campground accommodates both tents and RVs. Campsites in this campground are walk-in. An RV dump station is available.

Turkey Flat Campground

Some of the sites at the Turkey Flat Campground are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In-Season

Fishing

Make lasting memories during your RV vacation in Arrowhead State Park by fishing on Lake Eufaula. Anglers can catch largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and crappie all year round. Lake Eufaula is also famous for its generous number of sunfish, catfish, and sand bass. Indoor fishing is offered at the marina enclosed fishing dock. Baits can be purchased from the Area 51 Marina.

Hiking

One you park the campervan, hikers can choose between the two available trails. The one-mile Outlaw Nature Trail is the most popular since it is relatively short and easier to hike for any skill level. The strenuous three-mile Arrowhead Hiking Trail is recommended for experienced hikers.

Water Sports

If you want get out on the water remember to pack your favorite gear in your camper before you leave home. Being the largest man-made lake in Oklahoma, Lake Eufaula’s waters attract a large number of watersport lovers. The lake is a favorite destination for waterskiing, and wakeboarding in Oklahoma. Canoeing, swimming, and kayaking are great alternatives too.

Off-Season

Horseback Riding

After arriving with your trailer and horse, you should have no issues riding through the 25 miles of equestrian trails throughout the park. You can take guided trail rides or rent a horse at Robbers Cave Stables, which is located right within the park. Riders will love the beautiful nature and up close encounter with the wildlife.

Picniking

At Arrowhead State Park your loved ones will love sharing a picnic lunch while enjoying lake views. There are many picnic areas scattered in the park. After your scenic picnic, you can take the kids to the playground, play ball, or throw a frisbee around.

Golfing

Surrounded by epic waterfront views, this 18–hole golf course is popular with the park campers as well as day-use guests. Other facilities offered in the golf area include a pro shop, driving range, putting green area, and cart rentals. Golf gears can be purchased from the on-site shop.
