Introduction

Blue Marsh Lake is operated and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This Pennsylvania lake was created to control flooding, water supply, conservation, and recreation. The project was completed in 1979. The lake is 1,150 acres in size, and since its completion, it has attracted many visitors to enjoy recreational activities on land and on the water.
Upon arrival at Blue Marsh Lake, the first stop should be at the visitor center where you can find information about the lake and dam. After, continue into the Dry Brooks Day Use Area. The day-use area has many great spots to enjoy a picnic near the beach. Before and after, take a swim to cool off in the refreshing lake water or head down the many miles of trails. If you brought your boat, there are two boat ramps maintained by the Corps of Engineers.
Blue Marsh Lake has a day-use area only and does not offer overnight camping. There are camping options not far from the lake for those wanting to stay the night. French Creek State Park is about a 20-mile drive from the lake. With 200 campsites, including some with full hookups, campers will be comfortable at the state park.
