Introduction

Get in your RV and head out to Cherokee Landing State Park, located in Cherokee County, Oklahoma. Nestled in the Cookson Hills, this 146-acre park is a great place to explore for either a weekend or a week-long RV vacation. Just south of Tahlequah on Lake Tenkiller, you’ll find that you’re able to escape the daily grind of life without having to travel too far. There are 93 RV campsites that can accommodate campers up to 40 feet in length. Plan to make your reservations in advance as camping sites provide electric and water hookups along with a dump station. A comfort station provides hot showers that are accessible to the campgrounds.

Bring your boat as there is a boat ramp and handicap accessible fishing dock on Lake Tenkiller to catch crappie, large and smallmouth bass, catfish and white bass. With 13,000 acres of water and over 130 miles of shoreline, there are many water activities to enjoy! The park also has a swimming beach to relax your cares away and spend time with friends. The park provides visitors covered picnic shelters and a playground to let the little ones get their energy out. If bringing a large group, bring your gloves, ball, and bat to play a game on their softball field. Head out to the park in your campervan or camping trailer- you’ll be glad you made the trip!

Driving

Travel in your campervan to Cherokee Landing State Park! Tucked away in Cherokee County, the park is near Park Hill and south of Tahlequah on a peninsula into Lake Tenkiller. Centrally located between Oklahoma City, Little Rock, and Wichita, this park is only 80 miles outside of Tusla. Parking

This quiet park is nestled against the tranquil Lake Tenkiller. Cherokee Landing State Park might be small in size but has much to offer for RV camping! With well-maintained roads and cement pads at the camping sites, traveling to the park grounds is an easy drive. There are speed bumps throughout the campgrounds and depending on with site you select, there is pull-through or back-in parking. The campground is open from March to November and Wildcat Point is closed November 1st to April 1st. However, the park’s main road and boat ramp are open year-round for you to enjoy during your visit. Campers rave about the park's staff to take a moment and visit the Ranger Station to get a map and more details on the camp.

Creek Campground

Pack your RV and head to this beautiful state park in Oklahoma! One of the four different camping areas to the park, the Choctaw campground provides six RV spots for a memorable camping adventure! This area mainly provides both pull-through and back-in parking for guests depending on your site. A bathhouse is provided on site but you may want to use your own RV shower and there is a dump station at this area of the park. Enjoy a chance to get away from it all while you’re in Oklahoma.

Water Sports

With the clear water of Lake Tenkiller, this body of water is considered one of the best places in the West to go scuba diving. In need of diving equipment, there are two diving pro-shops located at Lake Tenkiller just outside Cherokee Landing State Park. Swimming

Leave your rig and head for a dip this summer in Lake Tenkiller! Take in the picturesque views of this lake at this great swimming area, the beach is a little rocky but a perfect place you catch a sunset. It's a perfect location to spend the afternoon with a family, you will have a blast while out in the water! Swim at your own risk as lifeguards are not present at Cherokee Landing State Park.

Fishing

Cast your line and catch your next dinner at Lake Tenkiller. With varieties of bass, crappie, catfish, bream, and walleye, the options are endless. There is rainbow trout stocked below further down from the park by the dam. There is also a handicapped accessible fishing dock available for use. Whether you are fishing from a boat or from the shore, anglers with all different levels of expertise will have a great time fishing at this beautiful lake.
