Conestoga Lake is kept well-stocked with fish. A fishing license is mandatory to participate in angling in any Nebraska body of water.

Transportation

Driving

Travel to Conestoga Lake proceeds over a few miles of backcountry roads. Consisting of only two lanes, some of these highways are comprised of dirt and gravel, so be sure to watch your speed to avoid any flying rocks which may damage your car. Traffic moves at a moderate pace but remains fluid at all times. Since this recreational area attracts visitors year-round, the roads are properly maintained and kept free from snow during the winter months. Wildlife occasionally meanders into the road. To ensure your safety, remain alert when driving.

Parking

There are several several parking lots where you can safely leave your vehicle for the day. The campgrounds found at Conestoga Lake also offer on-site parking.

Public Transportation

Due to its remote location, there is no public transportation available to Conestoga Lake.

Reservations camping

Conestoga Lake State Recreation Area Campground

Conestoga Lake State Recreation Area Campground is a great place for families looking to do some RV and tent camping. There are 25 sites available for reservation, with each of them offering either 20, 30, or 50 amp power hookups. There are also eight sites better suited to primitive style tent camping with no electricity. Dogs are welcomed at this property but must remain leashed.
There are several amenities at this beautiful campground, including vault toilets, a sewage disposal station, drinking water, picnic areas, a playground, a fish cleaning station, fire pits, and a boat ramp.
State park permits are required for entrance into the facility, which includes RV stays.

In-Season

Boating

If you are hankering to enjoy some water sports this summer, a trip to Conestoga Lake will not disappoint. Bring along your canoe, kayak, water skis, powerboats, paddleboards, and more; all are welcome at this idyllic recreational haven.

There is a boat launch on the premises that is the perfect locale for pushing off into the depths of the lake in your pleasurecraft. Paddle your cares away by launching from the shore in your canoe or kayak to enjoy some time in the great outdoors.

A relatively secluded spot, you and your family are sure to have a great afternoon on the lake on a little slice of beach that feels like paradise.

Picnicking

With over 486 acres of land to explore, you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to beautiful spots to enjoy a picnic lunch at Conestoga Lake. Relax along the shore or pull up a spot at one of the on-site picnic tables. There are 59 tables to choose from as well as 59 grills for public use. During inclement weather, there are also two picnic shelters, ensuring that a little bit of rain doesn't have to mean you have to stay cooped up indoors.

Bring along your dog to join you on your picnic adventure if you like but do please keep them leashed at all times.
