The Sonoma County Fairgrounds offers plenty of space and entertainment as host to the Country Summer Music Festival. The festival’s 5-acre northern California location is the biggest party and country music gathering in this part of the country. RVs are located in the designated RV park directly across the street from the south entrance to the fairgrounds. This location makes it easy to plan your day at the festival with your home base close and within easy walking distance.

Country Summer attracts more than 30,000 fans from around the country and the globe. With a main stage featuring a couple dozen headlining artists, a secondary stage for local musicians, and an after-party the final day, the festival provides a wide array of country music styles sure to appeal to everyone in your family.

Tickets

Tickets for the Country Summer Music Festival usually go on sale in late fall or early winter for the upcoming summer event. Prices are determined based on proximity to the main stage; seats closest to the stage are the most expensive. Tickets are required for each person with a limit of six per order per performance. The RV park registration of $150 - $175 is a separate fee from the festival entry price. Ticket prices range from $99 for one-day entry to $380 for three-day admission. Transportation

Driving

The Country Summer Music Festival is held on the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, California. The fairgrounds are about 55 miles north of San Francisco via US-101. Although you can follow GPS directions to the event, keep an eye out for specific directions and signage as you get closer to the fairgrounds. RVs must enter through the designated RV park to register the rig and obtain a parking permit. All RVs entering the park are subject to inspection by the RV Park Host.

Parking areas

Entry into the RV Park requires campers to register and pay in full, preferably in advance to the event. All RV parking spaces are on a first-come, first-served basis. Only one personal vehicle per RV space is allowed provided it fits into the designated area. RVs must provide proof of insurance and must display appropriate permit tags at all times in the park. Because the RV Park is located near the south entrance to the fairgrounds, most campers park on site here for the entire festival weekend.

Public Transportation

Both bus and train options are available for guests using public transportation to access the fairgrounds. The Santa Rosa City Bus, Santa Rosa Transit, and the SMART train are easily accessible for festival guests, especially for campers who want to go into Santa Rosa but don’t want to take their RV off-site. Rideshare drop off sites are available as well.

Onsite

It is highly recommended that you complete the RV Park Registration form and submit applicable fees as early as possible; the RV park fills up quickly for this event. Should the main RV park fill before your arrival, you may be directed to a spillover area in Lot D. RV and camping passes cover two people; additional fees will be charged for each additional person per night. Slide-outs are permitted provided they fit in the designated A and B spaces. Weekend camping rates for 30 amp spaces and 50 amp spaces are available. No tents are allowed, and no extension cords may be placed across roads or fire lanes.

Nearby

Nearby campgrounds are located in the Sonoma County Regional Parks in Santa Rosa. With six separate camping locations, guests can pick and choose where to stay and what amenities to include, such as a cabin, fire ring, and harbor and beach access. Spots are accessible for RVs, trailers, and tents. No RV hookups are available. Plan to make reservations up to 12 months in advance to secure your site.

Getting around

Country Summer Music Festival guests will generally get around the event on foot. All bicycles, skateboards, or scooters are not allowed on the fairgrounds; they are allowed in the RV site provided they are not a nuisance to guests.

What to pack

Clothing

Early summer is a beautiful time of year in northern California. Country Summer guests should dress comfortably in light, loose clothes and be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Soak up the sun over the weekend while wearing footwear that won’t cause blisters and shorts or capris that are easy to move in as you enjoy the music. Temperatures can reach the low 50s at night, so be sure to have some long sleeve shirts and warmer pajamas to wear to bed.

Gear

All attendees and their gear are subject to search. Backpacks or bags larger than the designated dimensions are not allowed. Plan to leave food items, metal containers, glass bottles, and cameras and video equipment at your RV site; these items are not permitted on the fairgrounds. Guests are allowed to bring small snacks and one container of water into the event.

Health & Safety

As containers are not allowed on the fairgrounds, make sure you apply sunscreen and bug spray at your campsite. One container of water per person is permitted, water refill stations are available in multiple spots, and plenty of beverages are sold inside the fairgrounds. Be sure to stay hydrated, especially if you are out in the sun for more than an hour.

Where to eat

Cooking

Guests are not allowed to cook on the festival grounds, so be ready to prepare meals at your campsite. Fully contained barbeque grills and camping stoves are acceptable for use in the RV Park. Open-flame cooking or heating is not permitted. While some campsites offer amenities, it would be wise to come with your RV tanks full in case you end up in a dry camping spot.

Restaurants

With over 30 restaurants located around and near the fairgrounds, there are plenty of meal choices for whatever you’re in the mood to eat. From classy Italian to Mediterranean to chic bistros, this area is brimming with culinary possibilities.

Vendors

The festival provides a variety of food options guaranteed to satisfy even the fussiest eaters. Mesquite-grilled meats and vegetables, juicy burgers, nachos, and fish ceviche have been part of the event in the past alongside traditional fair foods like corn dogs and deep-fried everything. Food is definitely part of the overall experience at the Country Summer Music Festival.

Safety

Security

Security staff is located at various stations throughout the fairgrounds, particularly at the stages, food centers, and event locations. Any item determined to be a weapon by security is not permitted on grounds, and no drugs or alcoholic beverages are allowed through the gate; beverages are sold inside the event. All vehicles and guests are subject to search upon entry to the fairgrounds. Avoid bringing valuables with you into the event; Country Summer Music Festival is not responsible for missing or stolen property.

Weather

California weather in summer is typically sunny and moderate, with cooler temperatures once the sun sets. Dress appropriately for daytime temperatures, which average around 78 °F, and for the evening when those numbers may drop to about 50 °F. Consider equipping your RV with a portable air conditioner or fan for warmer conditions, and bring an extra blanket or two for nighttime.

Medical

The Sonoma County Fairgrounds offers a First Aid location as well as a parents’ rest station for childcare needs. Strollers and wheelchairs are available for rent, and all areas of the fairgrounds are wheelchair-accessible; elevators are provided for access to the upper level of the grandstand. Be sure to check the fairgrounds’ policies regarding electricity for medical needs, motorized wheelchair access, and service dogs.
