Introduction

Unique opportunities to enjoy panoramic views of Upper Ottawa Valley and Laurentian Hills make Driftwood Provincial Park a preferred destination for RV holidays. Located about 3 km (2 miles) southeast of Stonecliffe, along Trans Canada Highway 17, Ontario, this 4.2 sq. km (1.6 sq. mile) provincial park features beautiful sunsets, scenic waterfront campsites, and a large sandy beach.

Recreational activities to enjoy at Driftwood Provincial Park include hiking on trails to various scenic and lookout points, biking on the park’s roadways, boating and canoeing on Ottawa River, fishing for walleye, smallmouth bass, and northern pike, bird and wildlife viewing, swimming, picnicking, nature observation, pet walking, photography, and lots more.

Driftwood Provincial Park features over 80 RV campsites, all available by reservation. About one-quarter of the campsites are equipped with electric hookups for RVs. Furthermore, facilities and amenities available in the park include water taps, restrooms with showers, boat launch, laundry facilities, picnic tables, fire rings, pit/vault toilets, canoe and kayak rentals, day use area, trailer dump station, firewood, and parking lots.

Driftwood Provincial Park was established in 1963.

Transportation

Driving

Located about 3 km (2 miles) southeast of Stonecliffe, along Trans Canada Highway 17, Ontario, Driftwood Provincial Park is drive-in park that is easily accessible by RVs and trailers, as well as other motorized vehicles. Local paved roads in the park are available for campers to move around easily. There are no driving restrictions within Driftwood Provincial Park.

Parking

Various parking options are available in Driftwood Provincial Park, since the park has nine parking lots distributed around the park areas. You’ll find five parking lots in Ottawa River West Campground, two parking lots at Ottawa River West Campground, and one parking areas at Brumm Campground. RV campers can also park their rigs at their respective campsites in the park. Overnight parking is also available.

Public Transportation

Greyhound Canada and Ontario Northland offer bus services from Toronto to Driftwood Provincial Park.

Ottawa River East Campground

Ottawa River East Campground in Driftwood Provincial Park features 34 pet-friendly campsites available for RVs and tents. There are no RV hookup options in the campground. RV length limit in the campground is 32 ft (10 m), however RV campers with larger rigs can contact the park ahead to find out if space is available. Amenities in the campground include water taps, restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, pit/vault toilets, access to waterfront, and parking lots.

All the campsites are available by reservation.

Ottawa River West Campground

Ottawa River West Campground in Driftwood Provincial Park features 27 pet-friendly campsites available for RVs and tents. There are no RV hookup options in the campground. RV length limit in the campground is 32 ft (10 m), however RV campers with larger rigs can contact the park ahead to find out if space is available. Amenities in the campground include water taps, pit/vault toilets, access to waterfront, and parking lots.

All the campsites are available by reservation.

Brumm Campground

Brumm Campground in Driftwood Provincial Park features 20 pet-friendly campsites available for RVs and tents. All the campsites in the campground are equipped with electric RV hookups. RV length limit in the campground is 32 ft (10 m), however RV campers with larger rigs can contact the park ahead to find out if space is available. Amenities in the campground include water taps, pit/vault toilets, fire grills, picnic tables, parking lot.

Seasonal activities in Driftwood Provincial Park

In-Season

Hiking/Biking

Driftwood Provincial Park features several hiking trails that offer wonderful sightseeing and recreational opportunities for RV campers. The Oak Highland Trails consist of the 1 km (0.6 mile) Riverview Loop and the 2.5 km (1.6 mile) Beaver Pond Loop which are moderate in hiking difficulty. The trails lead to a lookout point where hikers can enjoy panoramic views of the Ottawa River. The Chevrier Creek Trails, on the other hand, feature four loops that vary in length from 1.3 km (0.8 miles) to 3.7 km (2.3 miles). Hiking difficulty on Chevrier Creek Trails is moderate.

In addition to hiking, RV campers also enjoy riding their bikes on the roads in the park.

Boating/Canoeing

Driftwood Provincial Park is a popular destination for boating and canoeing because Ottawa River is renowned for water-based recreational activities. The boat launch available in the park is the perfect place for RV campers to kickstart their boating and paddling adventures on the river. In addition, canoe routes are available around the park.

Fishing

Amazing fishing opportunities are available at Driftwood Provincial Park in view of the fact that various fish species such as walleye, smallmouth bass, and northern pike are available in Ottawa River. Furthermore, nearby lakes to the park are stocked with lake trout, splake, and brook trout. A Quebec fishing license is required for all RV campers who wish to enjoy angling at Driftwood Provincial Park.

Off-Season

Birding

Various species of songbirds are available in Driftwood Provincial Park. The songbirds are commonly seen at the adjacent waterways to the park. In addition, different brightly colored warblers nest in the park. Keep an eye out for these birds.

Swimming

There’s no more relaxing way to spend a warm summer day than in the refreshing, cool, and clear waters of the Ottawa River which offers memorable swimming experiences for RV campers. Additionally, the Park Office offers a free Personal Floatation Device (PFD) loan program for campers. Two sandy beaches are available in the park.

Picnicking

The day use area in Driftwood Provincial Park is designed for remarkable picnicking experiences seeing as the picnic area is grassed and located on the shores of Ottawa River to provide a waterfront view. Cool picnic facilities and a playground are available in the day use area.
