Event information

Fortress Festival is a music festival that is held in the Cultural District of Fort Worth every year. Fortress Presents, a Fort Worth-based company produces the event in association with the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The Museum served as the venue for Fortress Festival for the first two years.

More recently, performances have taken place at the grounds of the Will Rogers Memorial Center. The first-ever event was held in 2017, and it has been going strong since then. Artists bring the stages alive with music from many different genres, including Pop, Indie Rock, Hip Hop, Rap, Soul, Punk, and R&B.

Festival organizers have consistently ensured that the festival line-up includes an equal mix of male and female musicians. Artists who have performed at Fortress Festival in the past include Tank and the Bangas, Flying Lotus, Wolf Parade, Jay Som, Gio Chamba, Cardiac The Ghost, Rae Sremmurd, Chicano Batman, and Dengue Fever.

The festival features an eclectic mix of performers, from well-known national artists to emerging regional and local acts. In addition to the music, you can enjoy the incredible art within the Cultural District. It is an event that truly showcases the diverse community and unique vibe of Fort Worth.

Tickets

Fortress Festival has various ticket tiers on offer such as general admission, VIP tickets, and platinum VIP tickets. All of these will give you access to every performance on the two stages. You'll need to purchase passes for both days of the event. They range in price from around $70 for general admission two-day tickets to $300 for two-day platinum VIP tickets.

Transportation

Driving

The drive to Fort Worth can be quite enjoyable, thanks to the wide roads and scenic views as you approach. The city is easily accessible from several major highways including I-35W and I-820. It may be simplest to use your GPS app or smartphone to direct you to your chosen RV park or campground before to set up camp first. Driving directly to the venue is not recommended since parking will be limited.

Parking areas

If you'd prefer to drive to the event, there are single-day and weekend paid parking passes available. These paid lots, such as the one located at Farrington Field, are close to the venue and passes can be purchased online. You can also buy them at the festival box office when you arrive at the event. Remember to check the length of your rig to ensure that a spot that size can be obtained.

Public Transportation

There are several ways to get to and from the Fortress Festival from various points of the city. Taking the TRE (Trinity Railway Express) will get you close to the grounds, and it often operates every day except Sunday. You also have the option of taking a bus and getting off in the Fort Worth Cultural District.

Where to stay

Onsite

Onsite camping or parking your vehicle overnight will not be permitted. Your best bet is to book a spot at an RV park nearby.

Nearby

There are some great RV parks in the Fort Worth area for you to choose from within 20 minutes from the Fortress Festival. Many of these are conveniently located near other top attractions. These parks and campsites will get you close to nature and come with facilities like full-hookups, showers, free WiFi, and pool access.

Getting around

Rollerblades, skateboards, scooters, hoverboards, or bikes will not be allowed on the festival grounds. You can ride your bike to the venue, but you'll need to park it at the bike rack near the entrance. The site is wheelchair compliant, and the organizers can be contacted directly for any request related to accessibility.

What to pack

Clothing

It is likely to be quite sunny and hot in Texas, even in the spring. So, wear clothing made of lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton or linen. The vibe is quite casual, and you'll see a lot of festival attendees wearing shorts, jeans, shirts, t-shirts and crop tops. It's a good idea to wear closed shoes to protect your feet.

Gear

Only small purses, backpacks, and bags will be allowed into Fortress Festival. Be sure to carry a liquid sunscreen (non-aerosol), bug spray, sunglasses, a hat, and a small beach towel or lightweight blanket. Take a refillable water bottle with you (up to 2 liters in size) and fill this up at one of the drinking water stations.

Health & Safety

Protect yourself from the harsh Texas sun by wearing a hat, sunglasses, and lots of sunscreen. It's a good idea to take frequent breaks to get off your feet and seek some shade. Dehydration is one of the main reasons behind medical emergencies at concerts, so drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Cooking

Cooking on the festival grounds or bringing in outside food or beverages will not be allowed. You can enjoy cooking on the stove in your RV at your campsite. RV parks and campgrounds have varying rules when it comes to open fires and pits, so check what's allowed in advance.

Restaurants

The food in Fort Worth is a true reflection of its diverse and rich heritage. If you're in the mood to experiment, you can try many different flavors from around the world. Or head to one of the award-winning local restaurants serving up delicious treats featuring the state's best ingredients.

Vendors

There will be no shortage of delicious sweet and savory foods to choose from at the Fortress Festival. Organizers work with the top chefs and vendors in the area to showcase the flavors of the region. Local restaurants will be serving up their standout dishes for music fans. You'll also be able to try drinks and food specially created for the event.

Safety

Security

Security personnel and festival volunteers will be conducting checks at the entrances. Bags will be searched, so make sure you're not carrying any restricted items. Weapons, drug or drug paraphernalia, and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited. Anyone seen breaking the rules will be escorted out of the venue.

Weather

Guests can usually expect plenty of sunshine in Fort Worth, Texas. However, since a majority of the event takes place outdoors, it's best to go prepared for any weather. Carry a rain poncho with you to protect yourself from sudden spring showers. This way, you can avoid standing in line to buy one. Fortress Festival is a rain or shine event.

Medical

There will be a central, easy to access medical area, staffed by trained EMTs. They will also be making rounds and can be flagged down in the event of an emergency. Medically necessary equipment and food will be allowed into the venue for patrons with special needs. However, prior permission will need to be obtained by writing to the organizers in advance.
