Introduction

In the east central region of Saskatchewan is Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park. With an abundance of amenities and attractions, visitors of all ages are sure to have a good time. A sandy beach stretches along the banks of the lake and is considered to be one of the top beaches in Canada. Hiking trails, recreational sports, and many other activities are at the fingertips of park guests. The sandy beach is a popular spot on warm summer days to lounge along. Dig your toes into the sand that extends out into the lake. There are picnic areas near the beach which make for a great spot to enjoy a picnic with family or friends. After a meal, plan for a beach volleyball match. Need a break from the beach? Head out onto the lake to fish for perch and pike. Explore the Trans-Canada Trail or the Sand Dune Interpretive Trail.

Upon arrival at the provincial park, visitors will find it easy to navigate and maneuver down the road, even those with a large RV or travel trailer in tow. Some campsites at the park can accommodate RVs up to 50 feet in length. The size of the campsites can vary, so be sure to reserve a site online or over the phone in advance of your stay. Many amenities are located throughout the campsite including water, restrooms with showers, and laundry facilities.

Driving

Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park is located in the town of Canora in the east central region of Saskatchewan. While there is shopping and other attractions in the nearby city of Yorkton, there is no need to make the 30-minute drive. There are many amenities in and near the park including a grocery store.

Located off of SK-229 W, the drive to the park should be mostly free of hazards other than a few bumps in the road. The road leading into the park is easy to navigate even for those with large RVs and travel trailers. Some campsites in the campgrounds can accommodate rigs up to 50 feet in length.

Parking

There is plenty of parking in the day use area and near the amenities. Visitors can drive, walk, or bike to the different attractions within the park.

Reservations camping

Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park Campgrounds

Camping is open at Good Spirit Lake from May to September. With many campsites spread across three loops, there is a mix of both non-electric and 30-amp electric sites. All sites at Balsam Campground have electrical hookups while Sandy Ridge and Aspen have a mix of electric and non-electric campsites. Water is located throughout the campground and there is an RV dump station as well.

Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park offers many amenities. With a grocery store, laundry facility, and firewood within the vicinity, it may be unnecessary to venture outside of the park area for any forgotten supplies. Picnic areas are scattered throughout the park. The park has bathrooms with showers. Pets are also allowed in the park with the exception of the playground and beach areas.

Reservations can be made online or over the phone. Big rigs are welcome at the park. Good Spirit Lake Campgrounds can accommodate RVs and travel trailers up to 50 feet in length.

In-Season

Swimming

Known as one of the best beaches in Canada, visitors will not be disappointed in the beach running along the shores of Good Spirit Lake. The beach has soft sand which extends out into the lake water, creating a shallow entry to the lake. Swim, sunbathe, or enjoy the feel of the sand on your toes as you walk along the beach. This is the perfect spot for the whole family to enjoy.

Fishing

Good Spirit Lake is an excellent spot for fishing. Pike, perch, and walleye thrive in the lake’s waters. While you may fish from the shore of Good Spirit Lake, the best fishing opportunity is by taking a boat out onto the water. There is a boat launch at the park providing quick access for anglers. Don’t forget your fishing license or to pick one up along the way to the park.

Boating

Spend sunny days out on the water exploring Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park by boat. Motor boats, canoes, kayaks, and other watercraft are permitted on the lake. A boat launch located near the campgrounds provides access for those with boats. There is also a dock located near the day use area. You'll have no trouble spending a day enjoying the wonderful views from the water.

There are picnic areas scattered around the day use and beach area of the park. Enjoy views of the beautiful sandy beach while picnicking. These picnic areas make for the perfect spot to take a break from water activities to enjoy a snack or meal. In addition to the beach, a playground and restrooms are located nearby.

Hiking

Good Spirit Provincial Park has two hiking trails. Part of the Trans-Canada Trail, also known as The Great Trail, passes through the park. This trail is one of the longest recreational networks of trails stretching from the Pacific to the Atlantic to the Arctic Oceans. The park is also host to the Dune Discovery Interpretive Trail. Dune Discovery takes visitors along the expansive natural sand dunes within the park.

Sports

Good Spirit Lake offers many recreational sport activities for its visitors. Head down to the beach where you’ll find beach volleyball courts. Also nearby are tennis courts for those who bring along their rackets to practice or for a little competition. The park is also host to a mini golf course in case you want to challenge the members of your group to a hole in one contest.
