Event information

The Levitate Music & Arts Festival is a cultural event that takes place in Marshfield, Massachusetts, a city that’s just a short drive away from Boston. The Marshfield Fairgrounds, a park spread out over 62 acres, serves as the venue for the event. It is ideally located to cater to both Boston and South Shore residents and travelers.

The event started as a tenth-anniversary party thrown by Levitate, a surf and skate apparel line and shop, based out of Marshfield. The first ever Levitate Festival took place in 2013 and was a resounding success.

Artists like Ziggy Marley, Lake Street Dive, JJ Grey & Mofro, The Black Angels, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Dead Meadow, Tedeschi Trucks Band, North Mississippi Allstars, Stick Figure, Aldous Collins Band, and Wheeland Brothers have performed at Levitate Music Festival in the past.

The organizers aim to showcase the art and music heritage of the Greater Boston area while bringing the community together. It takes place over three days and features a number of local artists, performers, and vendors. Over the years, it has grown into one of the regions premier music and arts festivals, that people from all over the country and the world travel to be a part of in Massachusetts.

Tickets

General admission tickets are available for one day, two days, and all three days of the event. Ticket prices range from $80 for general admission one-day tickets to over $700 for the luxury camping packages. You’ll need to purchase tickets for kids under the age of four.

Once you purchase your ticket, a wristband will be shipped to you. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to charity. Check out the official event website for more information on tickets and pricing. Shuttle passes and campground tickets can also be purchased on the site.

Transportation

Driving

Marshfield Fairgrounds rests just over an hour southeast of Boston, and you are likely to find the festival site easily using your GPS app. You’ll need to drive past the entrance on the main street and get to the parking lot entrance, which is off South River Street. There will be plenty of signs to direct you as you near the area.

Parking areas

Paid parking for cars is available onsite to anyone who has pre-purchased a parking pass. It’s a good idea to get there early since spots will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are also a few free parking options available offsite, like the lot at Marshfield High School, often with shuttle options included.

Public Transportation

The bus services In Marshfield and other South Shore communities are operated by GATRA (Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority). There are a number of routes that will get you close to the venue. Several shuttle services will be ferrying patrons to the festival site from different parts of Marshfield and Boston.

Where to stay

Onsite

Levitate Festival does not offer RV camping directly on site, but welcomes RVers to purchase a camping pass for nearby campsites. Overnight rig parking is not allowed on the festival grounds. It’s a good idea to book a spot at a park or campsite nearby in advance or purchase an RV camping pass.

Nearby

The organizers tie up with a few offsite campgrounds and RV parks to help attendees prepare for the event. RV Camping Passes for some of these are available on the festival website. Some of these, such as Indianhead Resort, have RV camping facilities. Several of the options are located 25 to 40 minutes away from the festival grounds, and round trip shuttle services are available to and from some of the locations.

Getting around

Scooters, bikes, skateboards, ATVs and other personal motorized vehicles will not be allowed on the festival grounds. The venue is fully accessible, so patrons with disabilities can enjoy everything it has to offer. There will be wheelchair navigable pathways right from the entrance, connecting the different areas of the site.

What to pack

Clothing

Wear lightweight summer clothing made out of breathable fabrics like cotton or linen to stay comfortable. You’re likely to see quite a few people sporting official Levitate t-shirts and merchandise. Carry a light jacket to keep warm after sundown and a rain poncho in case there are sudden, unexpected showers.

Gear

Carry sunglasses, a hat, ear plugs, hand sanitizer, a portable charger, and a refillable bottle. If you’re worried about the safety of your belongings, lockers are available for rent. Only small bags will be allowed into the festival venue. Alternatively, you can purchase a clear bag at the locker tent or information booth and use this instead.

Health & Safety

Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, so that you can avoid any unnecessary trips to the medical tent. Dehydration is one of the leading causes of health-related emergencies at music festivals. Ear plugs can be useful to protect sensitive eardrums, especially if you’re with children. Wear sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun during the day.

Where to eat

Cooking

Cooking in the concert areas is not allowed, and guests will not be permitted to bring in outside food and drinks. Before booking a spot at an RV park or campsite nearby, check if they have any restrictions when it comes to cooking. Most grounds will allow you to cook on the stove in your RV. Food market options are available in Marshfield, but if you have particular camp favorites, you may want to bring them with you in case other attendees have the same idea.

Restaurants

You’ll find plenty of restaurants in Marshfield serving up delicious Chinese, Japanese, Italian, and classic American food. There are also some great cafes and coffee shops where you can grab a quick sandwich or coffee. Be sure to try some of the fresh seafood that the area is known for along the bay waters.

Vendors

You will find a ton of food and beverage options to choose from at Levitate Music Festival. Vendors are carefully selected to reflect the grassroots vibe of the event. Guests with special dietary requirements don’t need to worry since there will be plenty of vegan, vegetarian, sugar-free, and gluten-free options on offer.

Safety

Security

Security personnel will be present at all entrances, and bags will be checked before entry. They will also be making rounds along with festival staff and volunteers. Make sure you’re not carrying any prohibited items that could hold up the entry process. Anyone seen breaking the festival rules will be escorted out of the venue.

Weather

Levitate Festival is a rain or shine event, and ticket exchanges or refunds will not be given. In case of severe weather, the festival may be canceled since the performances take place outdoors. Information on any changes to the schedule due to the weather will be disseminated on the event’s social media pages.

Medical

Several medical tents will be present throughout the festival grounds. In case you need help, you can head to one of these tents or flag down a festival staff member as traditional medical care options may be an hour away. There will also be an ADA access booth on site to provide information and assistance to patrons with disabilities. Service animals will be allowed into the event. Urgent care options may also be available with limited hours.
