The New Hampshire Renaissance Faire is an annual family-friendly fair that takes place in Fremont, New Hampshire. Often simply referred to as NHRF, it is held at scenic Brookvale Pines Farm in central Fremont. The venue is decorated to resemble a typical village from the Renaissance era. Guests will be greeted by wandering villagers, knights, ladies, and even members of the royal family.
The festival aims to promote local performers and artisans. Visitors will be treated to a continuous stream of entertainment from jesters, belly dancers, and other performers. There will also be a ton of activities for the younger members of your group, like face painting, craft demonstrations, and dedicated Children's Glen.
At the sprawling marketplace, guests can find everything from clothes and jewelry to earthenware, weaponry, and herbal concoctions. Some of the artisans will also put on live demonstrations of ancient arts like woodworking, pottery, printing, and metal forging.
Certain days of the fair are given different themes such as “Fairies and Wizards” and “Steampunk and Time Travelers.” Visitors are encouraged to come dressed in costumes that reflect the theme. Every year a portion of the proceeds from the event goes towards helping local charities. The fair celebrated its 15th year in 2019.
Tickets can be purchased at the entrance on the days of the fair. Both cash and credit cards are accepted. However, it is recommended to buy your tickets online to avoid the long lines.
Single-day passes are priced at around $15 for adults and $10 for children between the ages of 5 and 12. Discounted rates are offered to senior citizens, active military personnel, and veterans. Admission is free for children under the age of 4 as long as they are with a ticket-holding adult. Take a look at the New Hampshire Renaissance Faire website for more information on tickets, schedules, and pricing.
The venue is located at Martin Road in Fremont. Once you turn into Martin road, there will be signs to guide you to the fair driveway. You can find it easily using a GPS app, and detailed directions are provided on the website. Road alerts and traffic updates are updated frequently on the event’s social media pages. Be sure to check these out before booking your tickets.
Parking for vehicles of all sizes, including RVs, is available at Brookvale Pines Farm. In the past, parking has been free, but if you’re in a larger vehicle, it’s a good idea to call the organizers and check in advance if there will be an additional fee involved. Once you get on Martin road, you’ll see signs directing you to the parking lot. Accessible parking spaces will be available to patrons with disabilities.
Because of the venue’s location, public transportation options like buses and trains can be hard to come by. Once you reach your campsite, ask your camp manager to recommend the best way to get to the fairgrounds. They may even be able to connect you with other campers who plan on heading to the fair.
Onsite camping options are not available at the New Hampshire Renaissance Faire. Fortunately, there are several well-equipped RV parks and campsites in the area. It’s a good idea to book your spot in advance, so you don’t miss out.
Pawtuckaway State Park is less than 10 miles away from the venue and is highly recommended by fellow RVers. Only primitive RV camping is available here, but you’ll have access to the beautiful lakes and fun waterfront activities. If you’re looking for more well-equipped campsites, you’ll find several options within a 20-mile radius.
The fair takes place outdoors, so there will be lots of grassy and natural terrain to navigate. However, the walkable pathways spread throughout the ground make getting around easier. Wear comfortable flat shoes and bring strollers for young children. Patrons with disabilities will be allowed to use manual or motorized wheelchairs and scooters.
Be sure to check the theme of the day you plan on attending and go dressed accordingly. The last thing you want is to be in an elaborate fairy costume when the theme is Pirates. Either way, all costumes and types of attire are welcome, as long as they are family-friendly.
Have a helpful checklist of camping essentials, so you don’t miss out on packing anything for your trip. For the day of the fair, pack a small bag with items like sunscreen, a portable charger, bug spray, and hand sanitizer. Don't forget to include items to help you enjoy any excursions that you choose, like swimwear, bicycles, and hiking gear.
Pets, except for certified service animals, will not be allowed. Any weapons you bring to the fair must be peace-tied and completely blunt. Avoid handing your weapons to children and keep them secured at all times. Alcohol cannot be brought into the grounds and will not be available for sale.
Use the stove in your RV, or light a campfire to cook up a delicious chili or stew. Open fires may not be allowed at your campsite if there is a burn ban in effect. Make sure your campfire is contained in a metal or stone fire ring. Stock up before leaving the closest city limits, or stop in at the onsite Brookvale Pines Farm Store for some local meat and egg options.
You’ll find plenty of great restaurants, diners, and bars in Fremont and the nearby towns. The burgers, subs, and desserts are particularly delicious. Be sure to sample the excellent Italian, Thai, and Mexican food on offer. If you’d rather eat somewhere familiar, a number of chain restaurants have outlets in town.
At NHRF, there will be a wide range of food and drinks to explore. You can even choose to have tea with the queen at the NH Renaissance Faire. Multiple food vendors will have stalls where delicious treats like ice cream, cotton candy, wood-fired pizza, and roasted nuts will be sold. Vegan and vegetarian options will be available, as well.
All bags will be checked before entry, so make sure you’re not carrying any prohibited articles. Items such as glass containers and alcohol are banned. Weapons must be presented to the security personnel stationed at the gate to be examined. Anyone wearing attire that’s considered inappropriate will not be allowed into the venue.
The New Hampshire Renaissance Faire takes place at a great time of year to visit Fremont. The weather is typically pleasant and sunny, with a few occasional cloudy days. Carrying a rain poncho in your day bag is recommended. A little light rain will not affect the festivities, but the fair may be closed if there is sudden inclement weather.
First aid will be available at the medical tent located close to the entrance. If you or someone you know requires immediate assistance, you can flag down one of the volunteers or head to the nearest food or merchant stall. Medically necessary items and food will be allowed in with the proper documentation.
