Introduction

Rowan's Ravine Provincial Park is a scenic 270-hectare provincial park and campground located along the eastern shore of Last Mountain Lake in Saskatchewan. A popular destination for nature lovers, it offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation, particularly during the summer months when the temperatures soar to near 80 degrees Fahrenheit (26.5 degrees Celsius). Campers can look forward to fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, bird watching, and more within this family-friendly park.

Spend your days relaxing and sunbathing on one of the largest natural beaches in southern Saskatchewan, launch your watercraft at the on-site boat launch area, or have a sunny picnic out in nature. There’s plenty of birds and wildlife to be found in the park so pack your binoculars.

Decidedly family-friendly, the park and campground has a host of facilities for campers of all ages. Kids will love the mini golf course, sports fields, and the various playgrounds while the hiking trails, grocery store, and picnic areas appeal to all. Bicycles, tandem bicycles, and bumper boats are available to rent within the park.

Campers should note that while the park is open all year round, facilities are available in peak season only (May to September).

Transportation

Driving

Rowan's Ravine Provincial Park can be found along on Highway 220, approximately 14 miles west of Bulyea in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan. Take caution when driving through the park as the main road into the park is narrow and in bad condition.

Part paved, part gravel road, there are plenty of potholes which could cause punctures if you aren’t careful. The speed limit is 12.5 miles (20 km) an hour. Campers should drive slowly and watch out for wildlife and kids playing.

Parking

Parking is available at various points in the park, including near the boat launch area, picnic area, and in the campground if you’re staying overnight.

Reservations camping

Underwood Campground

Underwood Campground has 93 electric-only campsites, 26 of which are unserviced. It offers all the basics you need for your RV holiday, such as washrooms, showers, water points, and a laundry facility. The campsites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 16 feet in length, but larger sites may be available so call ahead to check.

Facilities in the park include a boat rental area, playgrounds for the kids, a trailer dump station, picnic area, baseball field, mini golf course, grocery store, and beach volleyball courts. The campground is pet-friendly but dogs will need to be on a leash at all times.

Elmwood Campground

Elmwood Campground has 103 serviced campsites for tents and RVs - there are electric and non-electric sites to choose from. It offers all the basics you need for your RV holiday, such as washrooms, showers, water points, and a laundry facility. The campsites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 16 feet in length, but larger sites may be available so call ahead to check. One washroom and two campsites are accessible to wheelchairs.

This campground is pet-friendly but pets must always remain on leash. It everything you need to keep the family entertained like playgrounds, a beach volleyball court, and a baseball field.

In-Season

Boating

Rowan's Ravine Provincial Park is a popular destination for water sports and crafts of all shapes and sizes. With a boat launch area, boat dock, and boat rentals available on-site, the park is geared towards boating enthusiasts.

Bring your own watercraft from home to enjoy water skiing, tubing or sailing, or hire one of the bumper boats, stand up paddleboards, or kayaks at the park. Canoeing and kayaking can also be enjoyed here.

Field Sports

During the warm summer months, Rowan's Ravine Provincial Park is a hive of activity with campers of all ages enjoying their time in the sun. Day visitors and campers alike can enjoy a host of exciting outdoor sports all year round.

Inside the park and near the campground, you’ll find a baseball field, mini golf course, and beach volleyball court to keep everyone entertained.

Mini Golf

Tailored towards families, Rowan’s Ravine Provincial Park has a variety of family-friendly facilities for you to enjoy – the most popular of which is the mini golf course. Challenge the kids to a fun-filled family game of putt-putt. All the equipment you need is available for hire on-site such as a putter and score sheet card. Off-Season

Ice Fishing

Rowan’s Ravine Provincial Park is a great spot for angling all year round – during the summer and through the ice in winter. Campers can enjoy fishing for trophy walleye, yellow perch, burbot, carp, and northern pike in the Last Mountain Lake.

A fish cleaning facility is available on-site. Please note that you will require a valid Saskatchewan fishing license to fish in the park.

Cycling

The roads and back roads of Rowan’s Ravine Provincial Park have plenty of opportunities for cyclists. Take to the roads or the trail heads and discover the park on two wheels. You can either bring your own bicycle along from home or rent a bicycle or tandem bicycle within the park. Not sure where to go? You can pick up a trail map at the entry gate.

Hiking

Hiking enthusiasts will be in their element in Rowan’s Ravine Provincial Park with various trails to explore. A trail head near the boat launch area makes for easy exploring. Hike the 1.6-mile (2.5 km) Prairie Whispers Trail that takes about an hour and keep your eyes peeled for the native birds, plants and wildlife that call the park home.
