Straddling the South Saskatchewan River Valley at the western end of massive Lake Diefenbaker, Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park captures the spirit and wonder of Canada's great prairies. Famous for being the site of the first historic crossing on the South Saskatchewan River, this 5,735-hectare wonderland sprawls across Saskatchewan's coulee and grassland landscape. Saskatchewan Landing is the ultimate RV adventure since it's home to some of the most spectacular prairie lake recreation, like Lake Diefenbaker's 800+ kilometres of shoreline, and the historic Goodwin House, a stone building that was the first to be built in the area by early settlers in 1897.
You'll discover a world of limitless adventure during your RV trip to Saskatchewan Landing, from boating and waterskiing to fishing and beachcombing. You can camp directly beside Canada's premier prairie lake, Lake Diefenbaker, which offers some of Saskatchewan's best fishing for walleye, northern pike, and lake trout. There's no shortage of great spots for photography and wildlife viewing, from the sandy beaches to the rolling coulees. You can explore magical prairie landscapes and historic sites at the Ruts and Remnants Trail or the Ring Trail. You'll want to bring your clubs because there's an 18-hole golf course within the park, plus mini-golf for family fun.
Summer is peak season for RVers and visitors, with temperatures reaching a pleasant 25 to 30 degrees Celsius. Late spring and early fall offer mild weather with lighter crowds and excellent fishing. In the winter months, Saskatchewan Landing transforms into a serene prairie escape, with Bearpaw Campground remaining accessible year-round, though services are limited and advance notice is recommended.
The park welcomed significant visitor numbers in 2024, making advance planning essential for securing campground reservations, especially during peak summer months from June through August. Online reservations opened April 8, 2025, for nightly camping.
You can access Saskatchewan Landing through a single, well-maintained entrance off Highway SK-738, about 50 kilometres north of Swift Current. The access road is wide and flat, making it ideal for RVs of all sizes. From Swift Current, take Highway 4 north for approximately 35 kilometres, then turn east on SK-738 for the final 15 kilometres to the park entrance. Most roads within Saskatchewan Landing are suited for RVs, with a maximum combined vehicle length limit of 40 feet at most campgrounds.
Swift Current Base Access: Swift Current RV rentals position you perfectly just 50 kilometres south of Saskatchewan Landing, providing quick access to Canada's third-largest city in the province for supplies and services. This location serves as an excellent base with approximately one hour driving time to park boundaries.
Saskatoon Northern Access: Saskatoon RV rentals offer the largest selection of RV options while providing opportunities to explore Saskatchewan's largest city before heading south. This location serves as a premium base for multi-destination prairie adventures, combining urban exploration with lakeside camping.
You can park your RV at designated campground sites and day-use parking areas near the beach, marina, and visitor facilities. RV parking may be more limited during the peak summer season at popular areas like the marina and beach. Winter parking is available at Bearpaw Campground, though advance notice is recommended.
Public transportation is not available to Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park. The nearest bus service terminates in Swift Current, where you can arrange car rental or RV pickup for the final portion of your journey.
Bearpaw Campground is the largest and most developed campground, offering 170 sites along the banks of Lake Diefenbaker. All sites feature 30-amp electrical hookups, and this campground provides the most comprehensive amenities in the park. Facilities include modern restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, a camp store, a dump station, two playgrounds, a fish cleaning station, and a beach volleyball court. Free firewood is provided, and the campground offers the easiest beach access. Sites accommodate RVs and trailers up to 40 feet, with both back-in and pull-through options available.
Nighthawk Campground provides 29 non-powered sites in the most secluded area of the park. Located about one kilometre past Bearpaw Campground, this quiet campground is ideal for those seeking solitude and a primitive camping experience. Facilities include three water collection points, modern restroom facilities, overflow parking, and waste receptacles. The campground shares service facilities with nearby Riverside Campground.
Riverside Campground features 42 non-powered sites for those seeking a more primitive camping experience. Located about one kilometre past Bearpaw Campground and directly across from Nighthawk, this campground offers a back-to-nature experience. Amenities include three water collection points, modern restroom facilities, a playground, overflow parking, and waste receptacles. The campground shares a new service centre with Nighthawk Campground.
Sagebrush Campground offers 54 sites with electrical hookups, located past Bearpaw's fifth loop. This campground provides a quieter alternative while maintaining modern conveniences. Amenities include water collection points, modern restrooms with showers, a playground, a picnic shelter, and overflow parking. Free firewood is available, and the campground is popular with families who want proximity to the beach in a more intimate setting.
If you are looking for a family friendly activity for all ages you can't beat mini-golf. There is an 18-hole mini-golf course available for you to use within Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park at the marina. The course is a par 50, designed for all ages and located in a beautiful location with flower beds, shrubs, trees, large pond with waterfall and fountain amidst a marine and nature theme. Club and ball rentals are available from the marina and the course is also handicap accessible.
The trails at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park are simply stunning and will give you the chance to take a walk through the native prairie, which is a rare ecosystem found in Canada. In total there are three marked trails for you to enjoy and explore that combined are around five miles in length. If you are wanting to learn more about the area we recommend the Ring, Ruts and Remnants Trail. This three mile trail will lead you to explore the history of Saskatchewan Landing with historical graves, homestead ruins, cart ruts and teepee rings all being located along it.
If there is one thing that attracts the most interest in coming to Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park it is the fishing. Lake Diefenbaker is without a doubt the most popular fishing lake within the whole province of Saskatchewan and attracts people from all over to come and try land the big one. The lake has a very high concentration of game fish that call the water home. You have the chance of catching lake trout, walleye, Atlantic salmon, rainbow trout, yellow perch and many more. Finding a golf course at a provincial park is a rare treat, so golfers make the most of this opportunity! Sask Landing Golf Resort is located within Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park and features an 18-hole golf course that has breathtaking views of natural prairie grassland, Lake Diefenbaker and the surrounding hills for you to enjoy during your day out on the fairway. The golf resort has everything you need to enjoy your day, including power cart and club rentals along with a clubhouse that serves food.
Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park is also a great place to visit for those who like to get out on the water too. Boating is an awesome way to further explore the waters of Lake Diefenbaker and you can do so under no restrictions. This means that motorboats, windsurfers, water skiers and paddlers can all enjoy the water! If you have a larger boat and need to use a boat launch there is one located near the main beach in the park. There are no guarantees that boat rentals will be available during your visit to the park so it is best to bring your own.
If you fancy having some fun in the sun during your stay at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park, you need to check out the beach area. Located along the southern banks of Lake Diefenbaker on the west side of the park, the beach is a big hit when it is warm outside, and many visitors love to chill out on the fine sand after going for a dip. The beach is also close to a grassy area that features picnic tables and large cottonwood trees that will provide you with some shade. There are no lifeguards on duty at the beach, so remember to swim to your abilities.
