Introduction

Webster State Park is an assemblage of many natural wonders including but not limited to vast blue skies, miles of sandy shorelines, crystal blue waters, a thriving fishery, rolling hills, a blossoming prairie, and incredible wildlife. Consuming 880 acres eight miles west of Stockton, this Kansas state park offers first class RV camping in a beautiful natural setting. More than 100 campsites offer electric, partial, and full hookup campsites in many different campgrounds. When you arrive at the park, you will be drawn to the inviting sounds and sights of nature. You will be tempted to park your campervan aside and hike the year-round Coyote Trail. If you want to fill your RV adventure with memories of exciting water sports, the exciting offerings like boating, fishing, windsurfing, water skiing, and swimming will keep you glued to the Webster Reservoir and two beaches luxuriant in silk-like sand. Picnic options are immense with more than a dozen picnic shelters, both reservable and non-reservable, scattered in various sections of the park. There are also hunting opportunities and much more awaiting you at Webster. Bring your camper any time of the year for a round-up of incredible recreation. April to October is the in-season for camping. A few cabins and cottages are also provided for the ultimate convenience and comfort for the non-RV campers.

Transportation

Driving

South of US-24 Highway, Kansas’s Webster State Park spans 880 acres eight miles west of Stockton in Rooks County. The whole journey from Stockton to Webster can be completed in a less than 15-minute drive in your car or RV. You must get a vehicle permit for your RV, motorhome, and any other vehicle for entering the park. Behave responsibly while driving your vehicles inside the park. Keep your rigs and cars off the grass and hiking trails.

The roads are not very well-kept, and a few roads also feature tight turns, so be extra careful when driving. Towed vehicle parking is available. Arrangements for parking have been made at numerous locations within the park, and you can also park at the campground.

Reservations camping

Rock Point Campground

There are ten water and electric campsites in this campground. Reservations can be made at the park office or online. Water, restrooms, and showers are available. The shower facility at Rock Point is ADA-accessible. Pets are welcome in the campsites. You can camp at Rock Point at any time of the year. Showers are unavailable during winters.

Eagles Landing Campground

Eagles Landing Campground offers 30 pet-friendly RV sites with electric and water hookups. Tent camping is also allowed, but only on the outskirts of the campground. Most of the sites are available for reservations. Sites 1, 4, 6, 7, 18, and 20 are non-reservable. There are a few ADA-compliant sites available. A dump station, restrooms, showers, and water are among the many on-site amenities. Up to eight persons and one camping unit are allowed per campsite year-round. Big rigs and trailers are allowed since there are no limits for RV length.

Old Town Area

The most spacious campground of Webster, Old Town Area contains over 100 campsites. There are 82 electric and water hookup sites, ten electric-only, and one full hookup site. More than 100 primitive campsites are available. The sites are non-reservable. The maximum RV length is 40 feet. Facilities include year-round camping, pet-friendliness, water, toilets, showers, and a dump station.

Lakeview Campground

Lakeview Campground is made up of another ten pet-friendly, first-come first-served RV campsites. The campground offers year-round camping; however, winter camping conditions are different. Water is turned off in the campground between October and April. Tent camping is available. The maximum RV length is 50 feet.

Hill Top Campground

Hill Top Campground contains 16 pet-friendly, non-reservable RV campsites with electric and water hookups for RVs 90 feet or smaller. ADA facilities, water, and restrooms are available. Do not park your vehicles off the camping pads. Only one camping unit and up to eight persons can claim a campsite. Tent camping is also available.

Goose Flat Campground

If your rig is 54 feet or smaller and you don’t need to book sites in advance, Goose Flat Campground is for you. The campground comprises six electric campsites with 20- or 30- amp connection. There are no wheelchair friendly sites in the area. Pets are allowed on a leash.

Primitive camping is also available. A reservable flat group shelter is also available in Goose Flat. Vault toilets are provided.

Old Marina Campground

22 campsites make up Webster’s Old Marina Campground, which is a combination of RV and tent-only campsites. RV sites offer combinations of electric, electric and water, and full hookups. The maximum RV length is 65 feet for this campground. If your campervan or trailer is longer, you can sign up for another campground with larger campsites.

Year-round camping is available. Site occupancy limit is eight people and one camping unit is permitted per campsite. Quiet times are observed from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Leashed pets are allowed in Old Marina. Restrooms with showers, water, and a dump station are available. The shower house is kept closed during winters.

Off-Season

Wildlife Viewing

If hunting is not your way of interacting with the wildlife, you can simply observe these wild creatures from a distance and treat yourselves to these absolute wonders of nature. The wildlife noted for their presence at Webster State Park include deer, pheasants, ducks, bald eagles, and much more. The wildlife can be found both at Webster and the adjacent Webster Wildlife Area. While roaming around in your RV, be attentive to the sounds you hear, follow them and you will be delighted with the sights of the incredible wildlife that calls Webster its home.

HIking

You should never miss out on hiking whenever camping in your campervan or trailer at this Kansas state park. Webster State Park offers the three-mile Coyote Hiking Trail which is open year-round for hikers and walkers looking for both casual strolls and serious hikes. The trail incorporates two loops; one is for a short walk, and the other is meant for a relatively long hike. This ultimate hiking destination can be found near the Old Marina Campground in Old Town Area.

Hunting

Hunting is unbelievably good at Webster. An 8,018-acre Webster Wildlife Area never fails to capture the attention of RV campers vacationing at Webster State Park with a knack for hunting. The Wildlife Area sits a little to the west of Webster Reservoir surrounding the Solomon River and is a place like no other in the entire region to offer a supreme hunting experience. Hunters can aim at waterfowl, deer, turkey, pheasants, and quail for most parts of the year. If you are looking for a less crowded, uninterrupted hunting experience, months following and including November are known to private that quiet, peaceful hunting you desire.

In-Season

Picnicking

A myriad of picnic shelters scattered around various campgrounds provides endless picnic opportunities to campers and day visitors. A few facilities are also reservable. An added benefit is that a majority of the shelters are also ADA compliant, so persons with disabilities can join in the picnic adventures as well. The reservable beach shelter is ideal for those who want to spend the day on a waterfront property. For campers setting up their RV camps in Old Marina, Coyote Shelter is a perfect picnic getaway.

Boating and Fishing

The Webster Reservoir is glistening with opportunities for prime-quality recreation. The impoundment is an incredible fishery abounding with excellent varieties of wipers, largemouth bass, channel catfish, crappie, flathead catfish, walleye, and limited, seasonal populations of rainbow trout and bluegill. Three floating fishing docks and five boat ramps provide easy access to the lake. After claiming your prize from the waters of Webster, drive your RV to the nearby electric fish cleaning station to clean away your collectibles.

Enjoying the Beaches

Webster Reservoir encompasses two beaches towards its north shore: Townsite and Lower Sahara. Drive your campervan to any of these dreamlike destinations for diving, splashing, and swimming. Get into the lake on a sunny day and experience the luxury of feeling the cool against your skin. If you plan to get wet in some other way, you can opt for windsurfing or water skiing. The beach is an ideal location to lay on your backs at Webster State Park.
