About Mikah Meyer

Road Trip and National Parks expert Mikah Meyer has been named a “Social Media Warrior” by MTV and featured by The Guardian, NPR, Upworthy, and The Today Show among thousands of media outlets globally for his Travel Beyond Convention. On his most recent 3-year, nonstop odyssey to all 417 U.S. National Park Service sites, he's been noted as everything from an "Emerging Leader in the Outdoor Industry" by Snews to a "Sexy Travel Guru" by GayCities. Mikah's expertise ranges from media partnerships with the US federal government’s news agency to speaking engagements from New York to New Zealand. Sought after for projects that focus on bringing cultures together, he is equally comfortable hosting on-screen in Iran, penning op-eds in Outside Magazine, or creating multimedia campaigns such as his “Rainbow Nation” series of rainbow flag photos with America’s most iconic natural landmarks (Instagram, 69k followers). Combining these, he is an inspirational speaker, encouraging others to follow their dreams before it's too late, be comfortable with their unique traits, and use those diverse skills to change the world. Also an accomplished performer, Mikah has sung professionally with the Washington National Cathedral choirs, the Memphis Symphony and various international ensembles, and has created shows ranging from full-length improvised musicals to educational cabarets. He is a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar who has devoted his life to helping people find common ground, whether in his hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska or on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial completing epic road trips. How it all started? In 2005, days after his father's funeral, 19-year-old Mikah embarked on his first independent road trip. What was initially planned as a post-freshman year getaway quickly became a transformative experience that showed Mikah the healing power of road trips. Since then, he has taken one road trip a year to honor this experience, including his 260 day, 16,400 mile "Dream Road Trip" around 46 North American states/provinces at age 25, and his noted journey to all 417 NPS sites at age 30. Mikah's writings on these "Dream Trips" have been featured by outlets including the National Parks Conservation Association, Outside Magazine's first piece addressing Lgbt inclusion in the outdoor industry, and a piece via Huffington Post and RoadTrippers that garnered over 40,000 shares and inspired the title track for singer/songwriter Shelly Waters' album Drive. With April 29, 2016, marking the 11th anniversary of his father's passing from cancer, Mikah honored his dad's love of driving by making life out of death and launching his journey to experience all 400+ units of the U.S. National Park System, attempting to become the youngest person to experience every unit and the sole person to do so in a continuous journey. The project is scheduled to be completed on April 29, 2019. Mikah's focus continues to be "Making Dream Trips Real" and using his expertise to engender others' dreams. Future projects include a book, a TV show, and more travel that showcases the imagination of the human spirit.
